Hi I'll try to help.
You will need Parelli Level 1 pack
A Parelli halter. Although I prefer Double Diamond rope halters as they are thicker and stiffer. I found a standard size fits most arabs well. The arab size was too small. A 12 foot rope. A carrot stick.
Now, yes, you can get copies or make things yourself but the feel and quality is noticeable and makes them harder to handle.
I really recommend the Horse Behaviour pack if you can afford it, as IMO every horse owner no matter what kind of horsemanship they use should own one. Are you a Parelli member?
It seems expensive but it's not if you work out how much money you would have to spend on lessons to learn it all. That's if you did have someone in youe area to help you |

Hi Cassy~ The good thing about it if you're not feeling too good you can do a lot of it sitting in a chair!

Hi Debs, Ive really enjoyed chatting to the others and grooming, just spending time with no hassle and o/h is a great help as he virtually does all the work bless him but thankfully he loves it
I have wanted to do this for ages and think as im so drained maybe now is the time to look through books, dvds ect at home and start to learn, all my medication makes me perm tired and so exhauseted, ive not even watched a show this yr, i now look forward to foaling in 2008 and would love lo learn the parelli (much less hassle and stress lol)
I love all the playing and fun at home and in all the yrs of competeing the best ones were not the winning but the times i used to hack to shows with a friend, we did a bit of allsorts and carried extras in backpacks, we had lunch with the horses lol and hacked home, sounds daft to some but those days where so much more fun than the serious stuff and horses/humans always happy and no stress at all
I love the quality time and cant wait to learn the natural way, all my horses are bonded with me, my bay mare if talk she will always talk back ha ha, yearling will walk, trot, canter free and not leave me, if i say show off he does lol, ive a great bond but want the natural understanding now and im sure my o/h will be a keen learner too |

It is addictive! When you have your foals you could try a new approach on them, lucky you I'd love to have one from birth Like me, when you start watching the dvd's you'll see all the things you've done wrong over the years without even realising There's so much good advise,it was surprizing how obvious it is The best I've learnt is to is slow down and think like a horse and don't treat horses as if they were humans, they have completly different needs.I'm having fun with our colt he's taught me heaps,he's great fun! |

Sounds like you have a great relationship with your horses already Debbie is right about the behaviour dvds, you should start with those but they are ££££££££

Cassy - you might like to look at the books I have for sale on the misc. sales - a job lot including Parrelli & other 'natural' titles. Excellent condition and bargain basement price! The videos could be of interest too - as they are based on 'natural' training. |
