Pieta by Gazal Al Shaqab ex pilar (by Fawor) was sold for the top price of 300,000 Euros to Shirley Watts of Halsdon Arabians. Very lucky lady, this filly is gorgeous!

Heather are there any links to photos of these 'for sale' horses? I think Shirley must have bought the mare you were bringing back for me by mistake!!! |

Well I hope everyone on Arabian Lines realises, when she wins in Europe and becomes a top dam, that she was meant for me. Perhaps Shirley would let me produce her under saddle, because that was her destiny here... Thanks for bidding for me anyway Heather. I do appreciate it. |

Laverna went to Dubai for 140,000 Euros. Pretty and good moving mare though perhaps could have had a larger eye.
Pieta definitely going to Devon, probably won't be shown for a while as in foal to Ganges and due in late January. |

Blimey I don't care how nice a horse is couldn't ever justify paying that sort of money!!! Can you actually insure them at that level? |

Interesting point. What does that mean about the value of the foals? Does one pay that kind of money to possess the beauty or to try to reproduce that beauty at the same value or more? Given how many foals a mare might have, you'd have to be charging a lot of money for them.
Strange I haven't had a call from Shirley yet, but perhaps she'll wait til the foal's born before we talk about her ridden career...

Nikki, I think Halsdon have well over 60 horses, their main broodmare band consists of Polish-bred horses, but they have Egyptian and Russian related horses too. I bought a pure Polish gelding from Shirley in 2000(hes the horse in my sig), he was her main riding horse, and a lovely kind boy. Their place in Winkleigh is amazing, and Shirley made me feel very much at home. Its a shame they dont show in the UK anymore, but if anyone gets a chance to go to their open days (im sure they still have them every so often) it really is not to be missed. Exquisite horses in a beautiful relaxed environment, im sure Pieta will think shes in heaven. Good luck to Shirley with this amazing addition to her herd. **crosses fingers for lottery win tonight** Han x |

Did anyone note the Silent Sale prices? Horses? There was a sleeper there...
Also, are the Poles retaining any of the Gazal Al Shaquab daughters? |

These things are all relevant though, aren't they?
What is a horse for? All I know is my perfect horse is Polish and feels like a dream to ride! It's value is incalculable, and I guess that's what Shirley Watts has felt here. At least I hope she's felt it.
Most of us will never have the chips to play that kind of roulette. I have been lucky and know what it's like! |

I once applied to do summer work experience at Halsdon, unfortunately I didn't go there, but they did send me a very nice letter with a brochure with pictures of some of their horses and the stud. Amazing place. Oh how I dream to own a place like that!!! |

Hi
Guess all horses values are what the the buyers want to pay, no buyers, no sale, some very lucky horses here, judging by the amount of SADLY FOR SALE horses advertised (not all arabs) some will not find such a luxury home.
