El Crysto is also the sire of Bitterwell Spirit, The 2006 National Summer Solstice Winner, of the 100 mile Endurance ride at Cirencester Park, In 2007, he came home in 3rd place, a lovely tall Chestnut pure bred Arab ownerd by Jill Kent.there are several photos around of this horse in the press & on the EGB site. |

Rozy Rider- thankyou for this information, its nice to know about other progency (sp?), and seeing as Bitterwell Spirit has done well in endurance, gives me hope Tanni wil also do well

Wow, he is stunning!!! Thankyou so much Swalk!
Saddlebred-Well judge for yourself:
El Crysto:
El Tanaya
The wierd thing is, people think Tanni will do well under saddle, and as the information says, El Crysto was champion under saddle, and as Rosy Rider has said, another horse by El Crysto is doing really well in endurance, and thats something i am hoping to try on him, its all looking positive
If anyone has anymore info about him, that would be great Thanks Jenni |

Hi Jenni
I contacted Jill Scudamore just after I bought Tanni and she sent me some piccies of El Crysto and Mystic Gilt (will bring them down the yard). What is fascinating (if I remember correctly)is that she owned/bred(?) Fazari who is Rossi's grandsire, what a small world! Jill remembers Tanni and asked if he still suffers with sweet itch! She said he was brought up on their farm with all the farm machinery etc - and that all her youngstock have to get used to traffic, noise etc, before they move on - maybe this explains his calm nature.
Didn't know about Bitterwell Spirit Sue, will have to look him up, he sounds fascinating!
Gossy - give him a smacker from me too!!

Wow, I've been looking for pics of El Crysto for years!
I've got a 7/8ths pony mare by him called Winnies Express.
She is super undersaddle - my daughter does aff. dressage on her. Below are a few pics. In the first one she had just won the Ponies (UK) Blue Chip Ridden Competition / Potential Dressage Pony class at The Dorset Charity Horse Show.

Hi Pauline,
Yes, I agree with you about Carrick Crystif - gorgeous! Where is that foal of yours? Can't wait to see him/her!
Tab, your mare is stunning - I can see the likeness to El Crysto, and also to my boy El Tanaya - see Jenni's post above. I just love liver chestnuts, they are my absolute favourite. How old is your mare and what is her breeding, she is lovely.

There is a likeness between them isn't there.
Winnie is 13 years old. Here is a link to her pedigree -> http://www.rochand.co.uk/winnieped.htm. I think Chocolate Soldier was a TB and that QUEENIE XV was a New Forest Pony.
I hope to put her in foal at 15. |

Hi Tab
Your girly looks fab! Love the last piccy!
Im hoping to do a lil bit of dressage next yr, as a yard next to ours holds regular dressage comps, so will have a go at that also do ridden showing with him next year. There is a Novice Ridden arabs at a equine/agricutural college just round the corner from the yard, so that is our goal. All the El Crysto progency seems to do really well in ridden showing dont they, which is a definate good thing

No wonder looking at him - what a gorgeous horse!
I don't suppose he's still standing at stud, is he?

Hi Jenni,
My boy, Kazeme El Mysral, is by Mystic Gilt (Jill's chestnut stallion)out of a mare by El Crysto. I just love all of Jill's horses, they are all so kind natured. I too am hoping to pop down to see her soon as she had a full brother to my boy born this summer and I am just itching to see him Kazeme is just the most wonderfull horse, totally chilled and very intelligent. They are all used to traffic because you can see her fields and stables off the M4. Jenni there is a really rubbish picture of Kazeme under my name on the photo gallery but it was literally the day I brought him home taken with a phone camera......if you were interested I could email you some more pics but I don't know how to post them on here!
Tab, as far as I know both Mystic Gilt and El Crysto are still standing at stud. |

Hi Bethan
wow, quite a few of us have connections to El Crysto i love knowing about his progeny and grandchildren ect. Id love to see some pics of your boy you can obvioulsy see what tanni looks like, hehe but just noticed there isn't a pic of his full body, so will post that for you
Yeah, Tanni is really chilled about traffic, defiantly a good thing
What things do you do with your boy, do you think you can see a lil bit of El Crysto in him??

Kazeme was four at the end of April, so we have done a few in hand shows....only local ones nothing posh like the folks do on here I sat on him last summer and her was super chilled but not really mature enough to do anything, then this summer I re-backed him...well saying that he couldn't see the point of being lunged..I was doing more work than him...so in the end I bit the bullet and just climbed on board well it was like riding a ten year old He stopped, turned, moved off my leg like a complete pro and never even thought about removing me I had a set of shoes put on him as he was getting a bit footy with the road work and hacked him about all summer, we have had some super rides up over the Welsh hills here, nothing fast and furious but he thoroughly enjoyed it, as did I. Anyway, I am back in work now (I am a college lecturer) and he needed re-shoeing so I decided to take his shoes off and turn him away for the winter He seems to miss being ridden and hangs around the house watching for me bless!
I love the pic of Tanni, Kazeme has the same white socks behind but one in front too. Not really sure who Kazeme has taken after...will dig out some pics and try and email you. In fact I'll go and do it now |

Kazeme sounds brilliant, you should try him in a few ridden shows, i think he would do really well. Isn't it lovely to ave a horse like Kazeme where you can get on him and not worry if hes going to put you through the side door. I am finding that quite a few horses with El Crysto in their pedigree are very calm and chilled
we don't have any shoes on Tanni at the moment, but the farrier says he has very nice feet, so don't want to put shoes on him just for the sake of it.
Me and Nicky are currently having lessons on Tanni, because he has never been properly schooled, just been hacking really but next year is probably going to be our show year, and then the year after try abit of endurance with him, so will see how that goes [;D] can't wait!
