I can think of someone who posts on AL, who had one cut in his mid teens..he's doing endurance. I can also think of one that came out of Beeston sale, an arab that was one of the Haywards, he was almost 20years... |

I bought a stallion , he was gelded at my expense before he came to me. He was 8 and was used at stud a couple of times the week before he was gelded.
He was a super gelding and died a few years ago at almost 31. He was wonderful with the foals, unfailingly kind a gentle to them when they jumped on him and played with him, he was a wonderful horse. I think it would depend on the horse. He was a very nice kind stallion so I guess that made a difference. Everyone told me I was making a terrible mistake but I never regretted buying him for a minute.

Our stallion had to be cut aged 17. He had been a show and covering stallion. He sailed through the operation, but because of his age he went to the surgery to be operated on. Came home a couple of days later and has been absolutely fine, now aged 22. He was always a very laid back horse with a fantastic temperament. |

We have had three teenagers gelded at the stables, the oldest being 18, without any problems. Two very kind as stallions but the third (the 18 y.o) was great with humans but would attack other horses. He is now very relaxed with other horses and has been turned out with a mare but not a gelding yet. |
