Hi Gossy
When I went on Allbreeds Pedigree the extended pedigree came up for your filly. Both Vakusko and La Maja were I believe imported from Spain by the Maxwells whom Barbara bought their daughter Lavina from. I have Lavina's bay daughter by Arastin. She is now five and had a fabulous colt by Psadisho Ibn Esstashan last year. I am hoping for a filly next year as she is in foal to him again. Fingers crossed.
I have a five generation pedigree of Lavina if you would like a copy. Could bring it to Malvern if you are there also some photos of Lavina if you would like them.
Best wishes

Am not sure if I will be able to go for three days at the moment as most of my fields are under water and I am having to put the horses out in shifts. Just praying for it to stop raining.
I had entered 2 horses but am not taking either as one will not show off and the other is still very much a baby and will be up against yearlings that are 5/6 months older than him as there are not enough entries to split the class.
Anyway will be there on the Saturday if all else fails.

Hi Paula
I had forgotten that I had done an extended pedigree for Paulette, have started one for you but will let Paulette give you a copy (and one for me too in case I need it again)!!!
Vakusko was in one of the Maxwell's auctions, Emma was jumping him bareback with just a rope and headcollar and he was a really good jumper. He didn't sell for what they wanted so they had him gelded and sold him for £5000 (a lot of money then) and he went as a riding horse and did very well at one day events etc. I seem to think that he went to Devon/Corwall/Somerset but noy 100% sure. Haven't heard anything of him for years. La Maja was also imported from Spain by the Maxwell's. She was a chestnut and was sold to the continent I think.

Hi Paula & Barbara
I'm really fed up now as they have split the yearling colt classes but it was too late to start getting him ready when I found out. Never mind there's always next year. At least the flood water is subsiding and I'm busy clearing up the rubbish and weeds left behind, so hopefully I should get to Malvern unless we have further deluges. I'll bring copies of Flight's pedigree for you both. I'm in Norfolk so we havn't had it as bad as some, its just my fields are by the river. Lets hope we have a dry Malvern

HI Yes we bred Vakusko (Garbo - Vakuska by Jacio) in Spain where we were not allowed to export his dam who we owned. He was a big horse, great structure and lots of bone. We kept him entire until five, but he never quite refined enough for todays taste so was gelded and sold to someone as a hack who never sold him on. He did a lot of riding and jumping with us as he was always up for doing something. Vakusko would do everything with a big smile, although not always quite anough delicacy. La Maja was bought unseen in Spain and arrived a complete physical wreck with a back problem we never got right and a vast amount of lumps and bumps all over, so she was not displayed too often ! Also very tall but not as much substance as Vakusko and chestnut with a blond mane. |
