I was wondering how many of you have, like me, put up with bits of old furniture that is truthfully awful? Well I'VE AT LAST GOT RID OF MINE!! OH has decided that as the house is now for sale, he is going to paint rooms that don't need painting, and re-arrange the furniture, in the process of which he has finally realised how bad some of that furniture, the stuff he said was perfectly alright, actually is. So I have spent this afternoon breaking up old wardrobes and chests of drawers that I have HATED for years, and it has all been taken to the local tip. YIPPEEEEE!!
Go 0n - admit it, how many of you would just love to do that with odd bits of yours

I have got a week off work so have been having a clear out as well,i have a 6 ton skip on the driveway FULL of rubbish i have collected,it is such a good feeling to get rid of it all.
Have also repainted all my back fencing,,stained all my decking and laid some new decking,i have 3 ton of gravel coming tomorrow as well,i only finished work at 6.30 am saturday morning.
You can now go out and buy some nice new furniture....and a new pair of shoes as well because a girl can never have too many pairs of shoes....or riding boots. |

My problem is not yukky old furniture (I like all our furniture!) but ten tons of unwanted junk and stuff that I can't bear to get rid of due to sentimental associations. Well, not all of it, some of it I could quite happily wave bye-bye to, but books, old ornaments etc - how DOES anyone get rid of it? I go to be brave and then think: oh, but so-and-so gave me this... or Oh, I remember how happy I was when I got this! And similiar over-sentimental claptrap.
I need a big carboot sale...

I HATE all my furniture, it was nice when we got it but since then have had 3 monsters, been sick on it, poster painting it, glue, glitter, and all the other kiddy stuff. Can't afford new stuff yet. Keep spending the money on the horses |

Akitamom, I think i'll stick with the new boots won't need the furniture when we eventually move as we are down sizing
Bex, our started out OK too, but kids, cats, dogs and a lot of years have conspired against it
Grey Girl, I know that feeling, although the furniture is gone we have masses of what can only be descirbed as 'TAT' that has toomany memories attached to it, maybe we can organize a giant car boot |

I did just that in november knocked a cupboard down to creat more space destroyed a past it and then some 3 p suite smashed and chucked some wardrobes and chests Then realised i had no where to sit except dinning room and no storage space. After dragging oh to dfs ordered new suite painted front room did bout 5 boot fairs i still have loads of Junk (quality items i no longer need) like inline skates and hamster cages in boxes in the loft and too many clothes to put away neatly. but i wouldnt have that furniture back . Its so satisfying getting rid of hated furniture (even if it is perfectly usabl!) ;-) jacki |
