Now that I have my little Welsh B mare back ( as posted about in another post) I need to find a feed that will help put a bit of condition on her with out a) whizzing her up and b) being too rich in sugars etc as she has had laminitus in the past.

Can anyone suggest anything that may be any good? I know its a tough task putting condition on ponies that are prone to lami and I appreciate that it is best if she stays a little on the lean side but she does need more condition then she currently has.

She is also a lively/anxious type so I really do not want to give her anything heating?

Ive heard about Calm and Condition - does anyone think this may be a good one?

Thank you in advance for any advice

Speedibeet and alfa-lite, perhaps with some high fibre cubes? No sugar there but lots of calcium and trace minerals to help buck her up.

Has your vet any suggestions? They may feel that just letting her have a little grass will do the trick.

Hope she soon makes a full recovery.

If still in doubt, iv read somewhere you can ring the feed company and they offer advise on what to feed your horse, in whichever case, im sure i read it in a leaflet somewhere, but its probably been thrown away, but try it

Good Luck

As I have put on the other post, ring Roger Hatch on 01243551766 as he will be able to help.

My Welsh mare has Happy Hoof, and she does very well on it. It has added Biotin in for the hoofs too. In fact all my arabs are fed it too, and they prefer it to ordinary chaff.

I used to feed my good doer (who got laminitis through cushings disease) happy hoof and speedibeet too- both are brill and he would dive into his bucket every day!!Speedibeet really handy too.
