When you worm your horses do you leave them stabled the following day?

I've always turned ours out as I pick up the droppings daily, however, I have today wormed them with Equest Pramox and it says on the box they should be stabled for three days afterwards!

That would imply that the worms are still alive when aborted from the horses body and able to be picked up again ( although highly unlikely

I usally turn mine out early the day they are to be wormed I worm them about lunch time then keep them in the following day although they can wander round the concrete at the front of the stables. then turn them out the afternoon of the following day so they are of the paddock for 48 hours

Hi Tonim,
I have never kept my mares in after worming and always pick up all doppings daily. today I had the results of a worm count done by my vet ( the first time I have had this done) and it showed they had no worms so I guess my worming has worked well regardless of the fact that I never keep them in after worming.

My neighbours had worm counts done and found no worm eggs and thus haven't wormed. I will be having a worm count done too because it seems silly to be pumping chemicals into our horses if they don't actually have an infestation. I pick up droppings daily too.

I worm and Freddie dont change his turnout routine at all. I pooh pick every day and have had regular worm counts for the last 2 years - all clear (even the first). I still have 2 counts a year one now and one in the Autumn just to be sure nothing untoward has crept in!!
