My mother did breed Gaymar - his dam was on loan to her and she only bred the one foal before being returned to the Crosswells in foal to Senecio (who was exported to Canada later).
I have the photo of Gaymet being ridden by my daughter, who was 8 at the time. Also one taken a few years later of daughter riding Rasmiga (full sister to Rameed) Just need to work out how to get them on here!!
Hi Jude, I'd love to know what Ahmar-I-Sham was like Gaymet was certainly a lovely horse and Rameed and my boy seem to take after him You can tell your mother I am very thankful that she bred him, he's given me many years of fun (and hopefully many more) and everyone loves him he's such a character!
Jude - thank you so much!!!! I just love the one of your daughter on Gaymet - so little on him - but I bet he looked after her so well!!!
If you want to email me any photos I will happily put them on here for you: judith.stirling1@btinternet.com I think we all need to see more of Gaymet!!!!!
Its lovely to see how alike Gaymar & Rameed are in looks & build & that they both take after Gaymet so much. Last summer I had a brief look at one of Rameeds offspring - now about 11 - still entire - never been used - he looks the spitting image of Rameed .....so the chestnut with four whites is a VERY strong influence!!! A friends OH ownes this boy & he's just used at his shepherding horse to gather the sheep over many, mnay thousands of wils acres of hills here in Mid Wales & apparently he's the most amazing horse out on the hills - he works hard for his living!
I'm sure she would love a holiday in mid Wales Polly our QH is not in foal...was supposed to have been - must have been a false alarm - so we will put her to Rameed - so he will have her & Tessa & also possibly a friends endurance Arab mare...so he will enjoy life
