Hi, I've been trying to find some info about my horse's breeding (I was told when I bought him that he was quite well bred... but that could mean anything!). He's a gelding so it's just for my interest and I've owned him for some 11/12 years now so he's 22 years old anyway.
Also I'm not sure if this is the right place in the forum to ask but I got his passport done with Weatherbys and they left out his breed information so I was wondering if I'd be able to transfer his passport to the Arab Horse Society (I have his registration certificate) or should I just ask Weatherbys to add it onto his current one?

Hi Kath
Welcome to AL!
My stallion Rameed (now 19) is by Gaymet! http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/rameed if you click on the photo image you will be able to see him!
I have a photo of Gaymet somewhere - I will look it out & scan it & post on here for you to see - later on (supposed to be doing housework!).
Can't help about his passport - but I'm sure someone will be able to on here!

Hi Kath, and Welcome to AL!
I did this for you: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/gaymar2
Click on that white round info button and you can read who breed him.
Looks like yoe have a boy with high % Crabbet/OE-blood, and also some Polish/Russian. I can work some more with his pedigree later (info for the missing parts, breeder, colour etc..)!
Regards
Bia |

Hi Bia
Will agree - Gaymet was a lovely stamp of an Arab!! & I am so lucky to have his son Rameed I must try to get some better photos of the old boy this summer when hes looking more Arab & less mountain pony - boy he could easily pass for a mountain pony stallion at the mo - all hairy!! LOL Rameed is the spitting image of his sire!

Bia - you would die laughing if you saw him in the flesh at the moment - hes so fat & hairy! He's wintered well one might say! He lives out all year & thrives despite being 19! Groomed him yesterday & had about a ton of hair off him - & hes still hairy! Give him a few weeks & his summer coat should be through & then he looks a different creature - a proper Arab!

I'm going to attempt to get a decent picture today... I've been through all the pictures on my computer (hundreds of them!) and he's either pulling faces at the camera, asleep or eating.
I'm really pleased with the response to this post, Rameed and Gaymet are both gorgeous like my boy |

I hope this works and the pics aren't too big. Can't seem to get him to pose (he never was a show horse!) so I think these are the best I got. He looks a bit sleepy and scruffy but he does live out

Oh Kath - what a lovely boy & doesn't he look good for his age! What have you done with him - riding wise etc?
Heres my scruffy boy Rameed (he lives out all the time as well!) - taken last summer - I really must take some up to date ones of him!
I think we can see Gaymets influence!!!

Rameed looks great Gilly (Gaymar - I always knew him as Gilly though I think it's meant to be Gillie or something so he only gets called Gaymar when he's at a show or being very naughty!) is a wimp when it comes to weather though he likes to tough it outdoors he gets wrapped up in rugs or he gets rainscald at a drop of rain or a very runny nose if it's cold.
He's about 14.3hh and we haven't done much competition together - a bit of local novice jumping a long time ago now (2 stops is about best we did!), 1 dressage test where we came last but I was really pleased with him, and 3 sponsored rides. His favourite activity is definitely the beach we used to get a lorry to when we were in York. Unfortunately having never had a horse box I've never got to go to much with him. He had a sole pucture a couple of years ago that laid him off work for a while and now we don't have an arena to ride in and the field opens on to a horribly busy road I just can't get him ridden much I've pottered around the field on him and last year managed to get out on a couple of hacks by getting up at dawn on a sunday but I really need a decent job so I can get a horsebox (and the OH to drive it!) or move somewhere with an arena/access to hacking. Would love to do some dressage with him (not sure if he'd appreciate that!) and some pleasure rides. |

Been reminiscing all day and dug out some old photos and scanned them in (wish i wasn't in them though, lol!) Photo by Pleasure Prints 2002. This was the East Kent Cross Country ride, his favourite. I only intended to go over a couple of small jumps but he wanted to jump everything and loved it!
Photo by Sporting Moments also 2002 a bit excited on the Molash Charity Ride
Photo by R.f.B Photography I think in 2003 on the Bramham Park Sponsored Ride. He looks a bit tense because the photographer had to snap it quick in the 2 seconds he agreed to stand still! Everyone thought he was a baby on this ride as he spoke to every horse that came near him and pranced about with his tail curled over his back

Kath - what a beautiful boy on motion he is - WOW - that jump (he should have been in the National!) Who says Arabs don't/can't jump I think that photo of the two of you is one that should be produced in say the next AL magazine??!!!!
He & Rameed look so alike! Rameed was broken to ride - but don't think he ever did anything - pretty sure he wasn't ridden afterwards - great shame as I think he would have been a really run horse!

Gaymet was a superb ridden horse - he was shown under saddle and also took part in all riding club activities and was regularly ridden in the company of mares. At the age of seventeen he was ridden in a stallion parade by my eight year old daughter - many(older) SEAHS members might remember this. He was also the sire of several very successful ridden horses including Rasmiga, Ramilla, Gieves and others whose names I cannot remember. I will check with my mother(Audrey Paul) whether she bred Gaymar - I remember the mare very well and I think she had one foal from her before she went back to the Crosswells.
Kath, my mother would be delighted to hear from you - she always likes to have news of her "babies", although sadly a lot of them are now getting a bit long in the tooth! |
