Hi there
My friend and I were talking last night about a film we saw years ago...We think it was called "Sylvester" or "A horse called Sylvester" but we cant be sure. The general story was that of a young girl who was trying to bring up here two younger brothers & work on a ranch whilst she trained her Grey Gelding for a 3 Day Event in order to win money and be able to keep her brothers & care for them.....Can anyone remember this film, I would love to watch it again, but I cant find it anywhere, not even on ebay.
I also remember she had an appaloosa she road in the film also - O and the horse didnt like jumping water

There definitely need to be some more horsey films. I thought Seabiscuit was dull - how about a new Arab horse based film? Havent had one since the Black Stallion series!!! |

I loved that film "Into the west". Films that I have include, Running Free, a really good film about this orphan foal being brought up by a orphan boy, its really good. Iv got black beauty, What about Hidalgo, about the race ocean of fire, the arabian black stallion is gorgeous in it, I also have the young black stallion, not that strong though in storywise, umm also classics like the horse whisperer the black stallion 1&2, Spirit: stallion of the cimmaron, but again, for kiddys really |

I never knew they ave ElizabethTaylor the horse aftervards. do you remember the black Beauty series that was on TV, on Animal Plantet, i do, its was alrite, tho i do like the film more I think, as you have said, they should make another arabian horse film, but not about racing as there are loads of films about racing including, seabscuit, national velvet, black stallion, racing stripes, hidalgo, too many!! Btw Rebeckah, I love your sig piccy of the 1 where u and your horse is looking in the same direction when u r riding him Gorgeous!! would love to own a black arabian stallion, just like cass ole really, lol |

Thank you! Its always been a dream to own a black arab - I just cant believe I got lucky and found one! He is a darling and when I watch him canter in the field with his tail flagged he reminds me of Cass Ole on the beach in the Black Stallion. He's a gelding though and I understand that black arab geldings are like hen's teeth so I really did luck out!
I do remember the Black Beauty series as well - not as good as the film granted but it does have the classic theme tune!!! And youre right - we do need a none racing horse film! How about 3 day eventing? That would be fab! |

yh a 3day eventing would be quite good, wasn't there a film something to do with national velvet, but training to be a 3 day eventer with her horse. it was actually quite good. which Black beauty film did you prefer. Mine was absolutley the 1994 1. iv had 3 versions, a cartoon, the old 1, that seems to go on forever, and the 1994 1, in which i have kept, but given the others to charity. |

1994 is best definitely! Except for the bit where they show Black Beauty as a foal and its a filly!!! |

I cant remeber Fury Pat, whats the film like? It might Jog a memory or to.
I still cant find "Sylvester" on UK playable VHS or DVD and its a super film - its about a girl who helps break mustangs in & works on a ranch (from what I can remeber) she drops accross this slightly different neddy in the herd who she is drawn to & they train for a 3 day event - the idea was if she was successfull she could get noticed and become a recognised trainer & rider.

Anyone remember a tv series called 'Horse in the House' and of course 'Follyfoot'. Showing my age now!!! I'm sure I've seen that film Sebastian on TV a few years back, either that or I've got a video copy somewhere! That 'Into the West' was brilliant, loved the part where they watched the neighbours tv through a hole in the wall. We're definitely overdue a horsey film or two.
