Just had a rather heated discussion with someone about passports!!
Dennis has a blue passport from the AHS which includes his vaccination records etc. I 'think' I am correct in saying that this is THE passport and no other passport will be required. Whereas she 'thinks' that the Defra passport is a seperate one.
She has an appaloosa and has been told by her breed society that she needs a seperate Defra passport and they also told her that a lot of people are making the same mistake.
So come on peeps - who is right????
Vera and Dennis (I'm gonna be so embarressed if I'm wrong)

Vera,
Relax..that is the passport Dennis needs, the colour matters not, though I do wish that there was a standard colour! I have some red PAHR ones which make a nice constrast.

I spoke to my vet on Wednesday, and she said that we will need to send our passports back to the AHS, to have the extra "declaration that they will not be going for Human consumption" page inserted, as earlyier issued ones dont contain it.
Is this Right

As long as your AHS passport goes up to page 24 thats fine, I think Dennis will be young enough to have that up to page 24. My gelding is 6 and only goes up to page 17, so I have to send it to the AHS and they add the pages free off charge ( now dosent that make a nice change ) !!!! Cazza

My 3 yr old & 5 year old's Passports both have 24 pages.
But haven't got the extra (unnumbered) section at the back that allows you to "OPT out" of having to record each & every medicine & wormer administered.
My mares Passport & My foals (which were both issued last year!) have these sections in! - So i am fairly sure we will need these adding to "older" passports.
I checked with My Vet when she was out, and she agreed if there wasn't the "signed" not for Human consumption section (NHC), then after whenever the date is now, they will have to record medicines.
She said she thought that their practices policy was going to be that they would check the "NHC" was signed when they did vacinations, and then mark it on there records so that they didn't have to check every time they came out.
So i am preety sure my two boys passports will have to be updated!
