Hi Wally, Soz to use this forum as a plug, but I have a smart filly (pictured) for sale she was bred at Tersk Stud and imported by me via Tersk Holland Sale. No transport costs from Europe or Import fee to Arab Horse Society and very reasonably priced to the right home. She has a quality show and performance pedigree.

Hi wally,
One of my favourite Russian bloddlines is Panagia (Aswan x Pustinia by Salon out of Ptashka), through her sons, Balaton and Pakistan. Their offspring, such as Kubinec and Kais seem to be doing a great job too. We have some Balaton daughters (one of which had a cute filly foal last night!)and other Russian mares from the Tersk Stud bought through the Kossack Sale. Sadly, I must sell some of these as I have more horses than stables (some at livery!). Do come and visit us anyway, we're in Southern England, mail: creeves@avarabians.com

Thanks a lot so far ! I am not looking for myself but for a friend of mine who really loves russian bred arabians but I will forward everything to her. She has not so many experiences with all the lines yet, so I'm really interested what YOU can tell about YOUR experiences with the different russian lines and maybe give some tips.....
I really like the Balaton offspring - I already had a few under saddle and they all had really great minds.
@wizzy: who is the sire of the foal you've got ? |

Hi Wally,
Yes, I love the Russians for being so bold and into everything. I would love to ride them, but unfortunately we don't have safe riding around here.
So excited about the foal! Mirabella popped her out last night in a bit of a rush and as she's not very 'peopley' yet I didn't interfere, had a quick look and thought I had a liver chestnut colt - by this morning it had changed into a grey filly! Wonderful! She's by Piligrim. The director of Tersk told me that Mirabella had one of her best foals by Piligrim. I'll post some pictures of her tomorrow. There are a couple of pictures of the others on my website, www.avarabians.com and I'll update it with baby soon.
Changing the subject rather, years ago I was on a course learning to do counselling and we were asked to write down 5 things that made our heart sing and keep the list for gloomy days.
It's very uplifting to think of them.
Anyway, I love all my horses but the Russian especially make my heart sing.

Couldn't agree with you more Wizzy. I too have an overwhelming passion for the Russians. As a non araby judge with prejudice once said to us "they're a horse, even though its an arab" and they are, just so big and built to do a job. I also have a weakness with the spanish which i tried to ignore for years but weakened 2 years ago when i saw a Borneo son looking over a stable door and subsequently this boy moved to his new home in our yard.
I have been bitten with the Balaton type and have a Kais son from a Balaton daughter which gives me the 2 lines to Panagia also. My latest weakness is Padron Psyche and i feel i am too weak to ignore the urges! However, must add, i am now looking for some more russian/spanish blood in the yard for this year so will keep cheque book close to hand (if hubby doesn't hide it before hand)!

Hi Wally,
Al Waha Arabian Stud in Haslemere Surrey has been breeding Russians for nearly 20 years; the first was Narim RASB (Moment x Nejnaia by Nabeg)imported in 1985 directly from Tersk. We have never ever ever regretted using the bloodlines .
Other than Narim, we also stand the stallion Palubnik (Balaton x Pesnianka by Nabeg) at stud and have quite a few 'straight' Russian mares.
There are quite a few Russian breeders in the UK, maybe your friend should make a start visiting 'home' studs before venturing into Europe? She is more than welcome to come to Al Waha; we'd give her pedigrees and she can have a good look round at the horses and how they have bred on, no obligation of course .
I wouldn't dare post my dislikes of some Russian lines !! But I do love the Menes, Nabeg, Aswan, and Naftalin lines.

Friends of mine have a small arabian stud farm and most of their horses are straight russian. They have some really nice horses, also a 3/4 sister to Balenina and a Kais daughter (which is offered for sale, I think) ! If anyone of you is interested: www.eichenhof-arabians.com
Have a nice day ! |

Many congratulations on Mirabella's filly foal. So nice to hear she has arrived safe and sound. Mirabella is a beautiful mare - envied by a lot of us at Kossack last year. Can't wait to see the photos.
