Yep, dilute washing up liquid or liquid soap in warm water is fine. I use a cotton bud for the difficult bits around ears, tail, etc.
The safest way to do it is to lie them on their side on a towel on a flat, secure surface (eg worktop), wash & dry one side, then do the other.
Quicker & easier than bathing the real thing!
