Well, yes he has lots of interest like gardening and cars etc. Other members of the family have booked for him and his wife to go to a west end show and stay in London and he is going on the Orient Express which will be fab - but we are now wondering what we could do......
Not sure he would like a flying lesson....the hot air balloon is a good idea though, i did that a couple of years ago early one summer morning, it was breathtaking, really magical. That could be a good idea, thanks Lynda. I think i was 3rd time lucky as the weather has to be just right, but it was well worth the wait and i dont do heights...!!!

What about tickets to the RHS Chelsea Flower show if he likes gardening? There are various tickets/prices. You can google it for details. |

If they have time and are already in London for the show, what about paying for them to go on the London Eye and a meal?

Hi
If your feeling flush The Orient Express, they do loads of differant outings and prices vary. We took our friend Fred for his 70th a helicopter trip and he also had a go at flying it,roughly cost about £80 for half an hour. |

If he likes cars how about a day driving at a race circuit. I did that for my B/F at Oulton Park Cheshire, he went out in an Audi TT with a co-driver/passenger and then went in a single seater - he loved it. Lots of the race tracks do it now - Brands Hatch has a rally cross circuit too. Its a difficult choice to make for a specials birthday but I hope you get something sorted. |

Hi Louise, It was my dads 65th in feb and we struggled to think of something special to get for him. We eventualy bought him a flight in a Dragon Rapide which is a vintage aircraft flying out of Duxford on going all over London. Wish I Was going... Jackie. x |

Thank you all for your ideas, there are a few there to be going on with, but it is so difficult, everything i suggest to OH gets the thumbs down.
I am getting to the point where i am just going to leave it to him soon!
We were going to treat them to a night at the Ritz after the show they are going to but mother inlaw sais he wont like that - how can you not want to do that, its luxury to the MAX - oh well.
Thanks everyone..x |

I paid for my husband whos a steam train nut, to drive a steam train. I booked a weeks holiday in our caravan, booked a meal, all of which he knew about and then on his birthday, gave him an envolope, with details of the next days actitivies (sp), which was a full day at the Great Central Railway, including driving the train. He LOVED it. |
