Thanks Nicci I looked at this last night and found the Kellog linkThe films are great especially Skowronikspelt wrong i thinkI am putting it all on DVD. I only realised this horse last night after contacting Dianne Ellis who bred my boy. She mentioned him and I later found him on youe site.If fact after speaking to her and knowing what wonderful stock she breeds I could have ended up with a few more horses easily. She has her stud stock all for sale or loan...if only! My boys dad EL SHARLUKE may have to be destroyed unless a suitable home is found for him. If I were rich I would have them all and I can't stop thinking about them. It must be a terrible time for her.Who was it looking for a suitable Arab to ride? I could reccomend these for their temperment alone......anyone??? Dianne was also looking for a horse named Milly thats why I wondered what breeding your Milly had? Anyway I'm glad I looked at your site.............cheers!

Hi Debbie and Louisejo!
Thank you for your kind words about Milly's Manger!
I shall pass them on to "Her Highness"...and I'm sure she'll give you the "Whinney of approval"!
Yep, that Skowronek is something else, isn't he?
I found out about his (somewhat distant) presence in Milly's ancestry some time ago by sheer accident...just wandering back through her lines and finding King Cyrus...and that making me think ~ AH~~~ARAB!!!! Milly, you see, is a Welsh Section B Pony although the Arab influence in her lines is unusually high.
If it means anything to anyone...and I'm sure at least one person here has Sec B's ~ she is an Ardgrange Difreg daughter out of Hunters Chantilly Velvet.
I have to say, Skowronek comes pretty close to my ideal of "Magical" ( just don't look at his knees too closely!)and I feel honoured that my furry little mare has such an aristocrat in her ancestry!
I do bang on about Skowronek, I know...but those horses with a good percentage of his genes really do it for me ~ he's not everyone's cup of tea by any means and breeding can hardly be judged on the strength of one horse !
Not every decendant of an impressive sire or a beautiful dam comes out a champion either, some are very ordinary...and some of no apparent note make fine horses...so it's all in the hands of Allah!
I know little of lines and breeding compared to the breeders here I might add ~ BUT that hardly stops me from knowing what I like in a horse and appreciating a good animal for what he or she is, even if they are not of my personal preference.
Just adore that Magickal fairytale horse "look" that Skowronek had and that apparently ethereal action....could have been the speed of the old film though!! hopeless romantic, aren't I ?
If you haven't seen this, anyone ~ it's the footage with Rudolf Valentino and Skowronek at the Crabbet Stud together with a bit of a potted history of the Crabbet influence especially in the US...but it's worth sitting through for the Great Man Himself!
HAve a look:

...scroll down the left side contents for the link.
By the way, good luck in homing these horses you've mentioned ~ I'm so glad that "Luke" has a place to go.
I've just come back from looking at horses ....and I'm still recovering from the travelling out of Jersey...and losing a car...and the police...and being horribly delayed by everything...and belting down the motorway at the kind of speeds that get you into Court...and slowing down under the bridges where the cameras are...and trying to beat the dark....pheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwww!!!
Still, WELL worth it, lovely friends to welcome me and beautiful horses too.
Again, thanks for the words on Milly's place!
Nicci

Hi There!
WOW! It was a journey beyond belief to begin with!
I had the car "borrowed" from the airport carpark at Eastleigh...I reported it missing ~ by the time the police got there and looked at the "space"...took a statement and asked a few other people questions...an attendant came up and said..."Ummm...it's back!"
It was...several spaces down from where it had vanished.
Thing was that no one could have got out of the car park as firstly, I had the exit ticket and secondly...the barrier wasn't even working WITH it!!!!Thirdly, there were no valuables in the car at all.
Still...no harm done ~ just a shock....so, no matter...but it made me an hour or so late ~ which I hate ~ and to give the first horse due consideration, it meant holding up everyone all down the line.
I have some VERY patient friends ~ and their tolerance and understanding were much appreciated!
As to a new horse...decisions are sometimes VERY hard to make!
Actually, this one will probably affect my life for many years ~ hope this will be the last horse for a VERY long time ~ so I'm doing nothing lightly.

Blimey, what a ordeal! At least the car was found and you didn't have to mess around with insurance claims, been there, takes ages to sort.
I think your very wise to take your time and not rush into anything, as you said, you want to make the right decision. I'm terrible and always go with my heart instead of what my heads saying! |
