I have been having severe Arab withdrawal symptoms this week. I keep having dreams about going on rides on Tara and its making me miss her loads
Have any of you been away from your Arab(s) for a long time and what did you do to get through it?!!

Oh dear I promise to take some piccies this weekend. Not wanting to rub your nose in it but we had a lovely ride yesterday (I had the day off cause the vet was coming to see Rioja and the sun was shining) I was in the mood for speed so I took Tara out first for a gallop I love the fact she goes at high speed but stops so easily even in the hackamore then I took Shida out on the same ride. Anyway it wont be long before you're home for your holidays and riding her yourself |

Can you not go on a ride at all - are there no riding stables? It's not the same but sniffing the scent and giving another horse a cuddle does help.

I went to Morocco for 6 weeks on expedition at College..and I missed her terribly!!!! I rang home as often as I could, just to make sure she was alright. |

I've been working very hard last month and havent been able to get to the stables very much and I keep having to ring the YO for a full report, so I know exactly what you mean. Luckily YO doesnt think this is at all strange. I agree with Grey girl, you need to go and breathe one in! |

Ha ha no don't like to brush too much in the winter natural oils and all that well that's my excuse anyway! Just down to very good grazing and lots of hay and haylage on the fields too. All the horses at our yard are nice and plump with amazing shiny coats so goes to show keeping natural is best! Even Shida is really shiny despite being grey in fact someone asked me the other day what I put on her coat and i'd just taken her out the stable and tacked up without even having time to brush her that day I do it when I get back if the lights against me. And when the vet came to see Rioja he said (bearing in mind she has some mystery illness at the mo) that she was the healthiest looking pony he'd seen in ages |

She certainly seems happy living out in fact I think she'd be thoroughly miffed if she had to come in! |

I was without a horse for five years when I had my son (not planned) and we were too poor. I had to put Obi on loan (not proud but I did what I had to). I ended up on happy pills after a while because I was suicidal - they didn't work. It was terrible. I never dreamed I would get him back - let alone have two horses like now. |

Well Sez it just goes to show that loaning can work cause just imagine if you'd sold him you wouldn't ever have got him back! I would definately loan Shida if I found myself in that situation rather than sell her. |

Aww thanks Jo!! she looks lovely. I haven't managed to look at the videos yet as we can't view video images on our work pcs, but I will try to get on the library pc after work and see if I can look at them there.
Can't wait til April when I can come back and see her!
Oh yes Sez, you're definitely right - I was having trouble managing my finances the year before last so I made the very difficult decision of putting Tara on loan for a year, but it was ok as she was only in Oxford and I could go see and ride her whenever I wanted. I know I could never sell her.
I did manage to get a ride this Saturday and it was better than usual as it was only me and another girl from work who went so we got to do lots of long canters instead of the usual walking for two hours with a couple of short canters |
