Polly arrived in September, a blanket spot mini, an impulse buy. She rapidly became a focus (do I mean THE focus?) of the yard. She was such a happy girl, chuckling at us and peeping through her eyelashes. A proper wee flirt,28 inches tall, seven months old.
A victim of her size, her patellar ligaments turned out to be too big for her wee body. A week past Sunday, her off-hind went out and stayed out. Decision was made to operate. On her way back from horspital the other leg went, so we took her back for another op, one small cut for a stifle. But she was just a wee baby and the bute gave her an ulcer and she just didn’t make it.
Dear sweet Polly, you weren’t with us for long but you were so much loved. Bless you. I read something yesterday that said “your heart and dreams can shatter, but your love and hope go on.”
Thank you, sweet Polly, for reminding us that love is worth the pain.

So sorry to hear this.
Her breeder needs to be told though---it is just not fair to breed so small. It is bound to lead to problems.
She was a lucky girl to spend her last wee while surrounded by your love. |

We had a mini shetalnd at my old yard..her parents were both standard sized, and she ended up at 22 and 1/2 inches..for a while the smallest horse in the world! Bonnie was a cutie pie, and she knew it..always a proper little girly...and always winning at shows.
She sadly died earlier this year..at 7 years old...she had bred a couple of falabella x foals, but her third pregnancy ended in complications, and we lost her...theses little things are never destined to be with us for long, but they give us so much joy while they are here.
Hugs to you Rhoni...you have been through hell this year, and things can only get better next year. |

I am so sorry to hear some more sad news from you, Rhoni. That is your three, they do say things often come in threes, so I am sure 2007 will be a much better year for you. Life can be so cruel sometimes.
I do hope your filly is making up for your heartache by bringing you joy and love.

Hi Rhoni
Life can be such a bitch sometimes and I read that you have had your fair share of downs this year.
All I can say is be positive and life will get better.
My thoughts are with you at this sad time and Polly was sent to you for a reason.

Hi Rhoni, What a sad thing I must say. What I hate most is that people breed smaller and smaller and like with siamese and persian cats, certain dogs etc. They get all kinds of faults and why? Why are there people who like these extreem animals, forgot to mention show arabs, I would not like to ride one, it might break a leg. And who is crying and sad for a very long time YOU, because of these ignorant people. Sorry, Monique and BIG HUGGS |

Rhoni, so sorry to hear this - what a year you've had: surely 2007 must be better. At least she had a happy life even though it was so short. Any news of your orphan foal? |

Dear Rhoni, Having just lost my beloved Ghaleem three weeks ago i can honestly say i know how you are feeling right now. I just wanted to say that i am thinking of you, honestly i am. The way i look at it is that some horses are only given to us for a short amount of time but the joy they give us lasts forever.
Lots of love to you at this sad time, Michelle |

Rhoni, I have just read this, what a tradgedy. I don't know what else to say but I really feel for you at this time. I sometimes wonder why we keep horses when our hearts get broken at times like this, but then the joy they bring us makes our hearts sing.
