Hoping some of you kind people who are so knowledgeable about pedigrees and bloodlines will be able to help

Ten or more years ago I bought a mare from a gypsy type in Shropshire whilst I was visiting a friend. She had changed owners a few times in the preceding weeks I believe, and was in very poor condition. He was keeping her in a tin shack, from which she had many little cuts, he was feeding her only about one section of hay a night and she was being worked!
I tried for a while to find out more about her, but it was difficult as her most recent owners hadn't transferred her and the guy I bought her from had tried to alter her registration in order to conceal her age! I did manage to speak briefly to a couple of her previous owners who were shocked by what had become of her.
I also gave up trying to transfer her into my name as the AHS wanted me to try and get her previous owners signatures, very difficult when you don't have addresses and people have moved home, the receipt I got from the gypsy was on a scrap of paper with a scribble on it (he couldn't write).
Someone along the way told me she was pure Crabbet, which is why I'm probably boring some of you with this long winded post in the hope someone can put me straight. It is also possible that someone who remembers her will see this.

RAINA 1979 Chestnut Mare
Sire BLUE RAINBOW (BLUE DOMINO/ALEYA)
Dam SIMONA (RISSLAN/INDIAN SHADOW)
Bred by Mrs TJC Munday

She is now owned and loved by Smiler who occasionally posts on here.
Just really like to know what you make of her pedigree, sadly I know very little about this breeding. Thanks for reading this

Hi Lanabanana

Jenette Munday, who bred this mare is a friend of mine.

She did breed allot of Crabbet horses during the 1960s, 1970s, & 1980s a couple worth mentioning are Prince of Darkness & African Gold. She also bred and was well respected for breeding palominos.

Jenette's stud was in Swindon, Shropshire so the location is right.

Sadly Prince passed away some years ago and she no longer breeds pure breds. She is now into racing thoroughbreds with her partner Martin.

I would suggest if the pedigree you have is correct your mare is Crabbet

Hi Natalie, Thanks for that info, did your friend live in Staffordshire previously? as that is the address on the registration and even closer to where I got her from.

Hi Lanabanana

Yep, Shropshire is where she was when she used to breed Arabs.

She is now in Kidderminster, which is Worcestershire.

You guys on AL have been so helpful
Since yesterday I've found someone (Natalie) who knows Raina's breeder and discovered that apart from ONE horse her pedigree is ALL Crabbet and that the one that isn't is Old English.
It's such a shame that when I bought her we didn't have such easy access to this kind of information via the internet. If I had known then I would probably have tried to get her in foal or made her available to someone interested in these bloodlines, sadly she is now well past breeding age.
If anyone has any addition information about RAINA, knew her, owned her or has any photos etc. Smiler and I would love to hear from you.
Many Thanks

I kept my horses at the old Monclare Stud up until last year....its a bit run down now and not at all how it was when Mrs Munday lived there, still a place that holds memories for me as it was here that I first fell in love with the arabian horse. I tried to find Mrs Munday recently as I did wonder where she moved on to, I believe she is at Hurcot Lane now.
I will look in my stud books to see if Raina has any offspring.

I know how you feel. I only looked into my mares pedigree two years ago, and found out she had really nice old english and crabbet bloodlines, with two links to Nuhra. Unfortuantly by the time I found out she was 19/20, so too old to breed a first foal.

I am glad you have been able to find some info on your horse's pedigree. Its great finding the breeder (as I found out earlier this year) and wish you all the luck if you continue to look into her background.

OMG Mandy! Are you sure her date of birth is 1978?
That means she's even older than I thought, I assumed it was 1979 which was the date of her registration, the other dates had been scratched out presumably by the guy I bought her from in an effort to hide her age, he insisted that she was 11 when in fact she was 17 or 18 at the time.
Do you happen to know who owned Alderbaran in '93? this may well tie up to the information from one of her previous owners that they had tried in vain to get her in foal to their stallion.
Thanks so much for looking

Hi all
About 15 years ago i feel in love with a liver chestnut mare that i had seen in a field near my house.
I got talking to the man who owned the mare who said she was having her first foal that following spring.
When the colt foal was a yearling i bought it hes 14 this next year and still with me.
She had four more foals over the next five years.
When the mare had the last foal he rang me to say it was a filly and the mare and foal are both for sale.
So you guessed it at only a week old they both came home.
The filly is 9 this next year and is still with me.
Thats when i started looking into the mares pedigree.
With no papers, aged about 17ish, part bred Arab and only a show name to go on it would not be easy.
And like your mare Lanabanana she had changed owners a few times over the years.
I rang the AHS and sent a copy of her vaccination card.
They said she was registered with them. Was still registered to her breeder and was bred by Mrs Tjc Munday from the Monclare stud The Hawthorns Hurcott lane Kidderminster. Also a Julie Ashton name came up. They said she was foaled in 1977 so allot older than her 17 years she was indeed rising 22.
My Mare was called flossy (Cottonfield candyfloss)
Her sire was 1970 Ruslan and her dam was 1967 Monclare crystal princess.
If anyone has any info regarding floss her past, Ruslan ,crystal ,monclare stud i would love to hear from you.

Hi Denise

Jo Davies nee Peters owned Alderbaren in the 90s. She bought him from a guy, possibly his breeder in Stourport-upon-Severn.

I'm not sure who would have owned him in 93

Hi Bridie

Yep, Jenette is in Hurcott Lane

Aldebaran was still listed as standing at stud with Jo Peters (Cloudwood Stud, Walsall, West Mids) in 1993/1994.

Hi,
Thanks so much for your most recent postings guys
I thought that it was Jo Peters that owned Aldebaran she is actually the last registered owner of Raina though NOT the last person who owned her before I bought her. I believe I spoke to Jo briefly on the telephone when I was actively trying to get Raina transferred, it was possibly she who told me she had tried in vain to get her in foal. I have a feeling Jo may have advertised on this forum fairly recently, but I wasn't sure if it was her because of the name change nor did I realise her stud name of Cloudwood.
Perhaps if Jo sees this she could e-mail me or Smiler, my address is in my profile.
Thanks again to those of you who have been SO helpful, after all these years it's great to have some fresh information about Raina
