The frustrating phenomenon of finding a pile of droppings under a carefully sifted pile of straw when laying beds at night can only be attributed to stable trolls, the same culprits responsible for misplaced headcollars and toppled muckheaps.
Does anybody else suffer at the hands of these little monsters?

I use to have one of those pesky little monsters too... I found that marking my pitchfork with tippex with a swear word on the handle kept them away from it Works every time Paul |

I have recently changed Dennis onto Ecobed from straw but he used to be very clever by poohing under the banks. I swear I used to find them under the banks!!!!
Does anyone else have a fox that will nick absolutly anything not tied down or out of reach. I mean anything, including a full sized plastic shovel (grrr livery left it in the yard overnight), buckets, haynets, grooming kit etc.
AND if he can't move it he has to poo on it!!!!!!!!!

Wondered what happened to various bits and pieces and just how pooh could suddenly appear under the pile of haylage - now I know, thank goodness I thought I was going mad!!
Thanks Wendy for pointing out the stable trolls, I can now sleep peacefully at night.

Now I know who's responsible! - when you've bathed and show-sheened and rugged and bandaged up your horse ready for the early morning start for the show - why is the only bandage that's come undone next morning, the one on the only white leg??
Why, when the girth is always done up to the same hole does the judge say - 'I think it could maybe go up one?' and she's right!
Why when the farrier has been trimming the old mare for 18 years, and his new appentice approaches her, do I say 'oh she's no trouble', does she then lay back her ears and take him on?
I do know and can tell you with some authority that trolls live in wheelie bins - 'cos my mare tells me so every Tuesday.

yep, trolls live in wheelie bins, my patterdale terrier says so. they are also invisable to the human eye but horses see them sat on rocks when it's windy! and on logs! and hid behind blades of grass....or maybe thats the tigers?
they also muck up my yard that i've spent ages cleaning! how else does the mud get every where?
i think they also live in our houses.....especialy my 9yr old sons room! where do all the odd socks go? i know it's not the washer that eats them, they never get that far!
