Very best wishes for a speedy recovery Susan and keep up the good work John!
A friend of mine used to have pugs (1 at a time!) they were great characters. Smurf used to lead her show cob about! The only reason she doesn't have one at the moment is because her Boxer is a bit too big and boisterous!

I don't wish to intrude as I don't really know anybody on this forum yet, but does anybody know how Sue and Ethan are today? I'm hoping that they are both recovering fast.

just a note. Prayers are needed for Lillian Evans. She used to have Sardom until he died this year. She's battling hard with cancer and is trying not to feel down about it. A very brave lady.
Sue.

Hi Wendy, thank you for asking about Ethan. He had a good day yesterday, followed by vomiting all night. Along with the intense pain he is displaying they are now treating it as suspected meningitis.
We are just waiting now to see what happens next. We are all dreading the operation by pass being blocked, as it can be if there is an infection, hopefully there will be better news tommorrow.

Hi Pat, I spoke to John last night and Sue's doing well. She is due home today and will make a good recovery, just needs to be careful that she never bangs her head badly, other than that I think she will be OK. Knowing Sue I know she won't give in very easily!

Sue(Razgold) Of course we will place Lillian into our thoughts and prayers. i dont know her, but i am certain that everyone here sends her a big HUG.OOO SueB. IS cominghome this afternoon, but the surgery was far more extensive than planned and so she will have to be rather more careful than she might like!! Dont think any triple somersaults are allowed for example. Unfortunately she is still in a lot of pain as an infection has arisen, so please keep sending those healing thoughts,...but at least there isnt any facial paralysis( So you can still make faces at us in the show-ring Sue!!) suyen. |

Hi Pat,
Hope the news today is good. It's awful when they are so little and so much waiting to see-ing goes on - you feel so helpless. It sounds as if the poor wee chap is having one setback after the other. It just isn't fair. Hopefully he will recover quickly now.
Glad to hear that Sue is getting home today. It's always better to sleep in your own bed at night, have home cooking offered even if you can't eat it, and have the privacy so lacking in hospitals and I certainly always feel better when I can see my horses, cat, dog and guinea pig. (Oh, I suppose I'd better mention the husband and adolescent, too.) It's awful about the infection and I bet she'll be really frustrated at not being able to do things, but home is definitely the best place to recover.

Ethan had a 'comfortable' night - but they are sending pain specialists to see him as the 3 pain killers he is on are not sufficient. He will hopefully respond to the antibiotics, unfortunatley it is just a waiting game now to see what happens. If this clears it may be several weeks before they will know whether it has blocked the drain from the 4th ventrilal.
I'm glad to hear Sue's op went ok, and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Lillian doesn't show much now but she had the stallion Stardom by Sandstorm. Crabbet/Old English breeding. He won Reserve Champion at Haydock when he was only 2, I think he was 2. Anyway he's the grandsire of my mare in my signature.
Sue.

Lilian was in good spirits at Broadgreen, she was expecting to go home the next day. Lilian is always cheerful, despite the difficulites she is facing. She has had a really bad time of it recently, and in between treatments her old stallion died.
Stardom never looked as good in a photo as in the flesh. He was first and foremost a good horse, regardless of what breed he was. But he was an outstanding Arab, with all the type and refinement that we expect in the ring today.
Unfortunately Lilian did not stand him to outside mares, so he does not have the numbers of progeny to be as well known as he deserves. |

Ethan news.
He is to have another operation tonight as they now think the drain is blocked and want to relieve the pressure that is causing his pain. this will need a further operation in about 5 days, but tonights should only take an hour, not the 6 hours his first one took.
My daughter and son in law have been camped at the hospital for 2 weeks now, there is a family who have been there for 4 months with a child with cancer, its a really sobering experience. |

We are waiting to hear what the consultant says this morning. Last night they backed off any major surgery, and have just removed the drain tube from his first shunt to see if the pressuers are ok and it is working.
Apparently yesterday was horrendous. He has given himself friction burns thrashing round the cot semi concious. That is despite the 3 different pain killers. Now he's back in intensive care where they can put him on morphine as he's got all the monitors on.
My son in law's mother works with a man who had a similar operation as an adult, and he also said the post operative pain was indescribable.
Although you would not wish this on your worst enemy, if he survives eventually that is what is important right now. Your concern is really appreciated, thank you. |
