I'm looking to buy a compact tractor for all of my field maintenance jobs like harrowing and topping. I'm only talking about a few acres, on field is a steep hill. I'm really confused by all of the choice available - Kubotas seem to be the best but are very expensive.
Does anyone have a compact tractor which they recommend?
Hi, I have a Kubota B7100 and it is brilliant. I use my paddock sweeper with it and tow the trailer full of muck. I have also rolled the field with it. Yet to buy a topper for it, but can't see it being a problem.
As long as you have weights on the front, it is fine with carrying back buckets full of rubble.
Mine isn't much bigger than a sit on mower but it is 4 wheel drive and has plenty of pull on it.
What about everyone else - do you all rely on contractors or do you have big tractors? I have used contractors or local helpful farmers in the past but its really difficult to organise when I'm at work and need to get the horses in.
I'm looking at buying one and Kubota definitely seems to be worth the money. They do come up second hand privately and through the dealerships too. I like the look of the Alpine Tractors (like a hybrid quad/tractor) but they're even dearer!
