How far up your boot should a set of spurs come for showing? I'm really upset as a judge told me to put my spurs futher up and so I did, and they have rubbed my horse on his lesson, I don't know if this has 'helped' the rubbing or not. I have ridden in spurs for my lessons for many years with no problems but this has shaken my confidence to use them now, we worked hard and he was sweating a lot and he often gets various rub marks from sweat until I changed his girth etc, I feel awful, I only use them as he is very hard to motivate without and have tried lots of methods with him. Also wondering what type of spurs are the best? Cheers for any help

Most boots have a little 'spur rest' on the back so surely that's the correct place for them? It seems a bit odd (to me) that your horse is 'hard to motivate' without the use of spurs... I am not meaning to be offensive here, as obviously I don't know you and your horse!
Try not to let this situation upset you, go back to wearing the spurs where they suit you and your horse. It's the comfort of you two that counts.
