So sad to hear about Crystal Magician. I remember him just so well over many many years. Especially at Ascot many moons ago when I was in the same ring with Blue Lucius. Crystal was always the one to beat!!! He was a VERY special chap. Thinking of you. With love

My very deepest condolences to Nadia and Frances on the loss of your very special stallion, Crystal Magician. When he came into the world it was so vital and exciting, I don’t think he let you down. A Champion both In Hand and Ridden, he did it all. I also remember fondly the year he was British National Champion Reserve, as a veteran. He really was the most fantastic ambassador for the Arabian breed.
We are very proud to own a lovely Crystal daughter, Crystal Ferasta, my foundation mare. Bought as a precocious 3 year old, she was a successful filly at the county shows - when they meant anything!! Though not a particularly exotic mare, she is full of beauty, grace and QUALITY. She has gone on to be my most consistent producer to date, she is the mother of Liberty - Champion Reserve filly at Birchenley Manor C and Crystal Amethyst - Champion Reserve mare at Wales and West C, she in turn is mother of High Priestess - Champion Reserve filly at Wessex C and Enchantress 2003 for whom we have very high hopes.
So, Thank you to Cystal for giving us a little 'magic' into our breeding program - you won’t be forgotten. |

Just heard the sad news..... Condolences from all of us at Souter House. Crystal Magician was a horse that captivated me in my teenage years. Hate it when the oldies go
But he did give so much to the breed

To all at Cullinghurst, Im so sad to hear of this news of Crystal's passing. He was such a special horse and my biggest regret was that I never got to see or meet him myself, no doubt his legacy and offspring will go on. Keep those precious memories close to your hearts, and we are all thinking of you all at this hard time...

Thank you everyone for your messages of support. It is very moving to know that people out there thought so much of our Special Man.
His death was sudden and very unexpected and his stable is very empty. Hard at the moment to discuss...
We do appreciate all your messages very much.
Thanks to you all
Frances. |

Dear, Nadia, Frances, Paul and all the Cullinghurst staff,
So sorry to hear about Crystal, he was not only wonderful to look at and a magnificent sire but a fantastic "person" and I think that is what you will miss the most.
I really my time with him while I worked for you.

I had not met this horse, but I understand what the loss of a great old friend is like. Rather quiet and strange. Think back and laugh at the funny times, the daft things that were only about him. Great horses warrant this.

Did he still have his welsh paddock companion (Squirrel?). If so is the wee pony also missing him? I was heartened by the photo of Crystal Magician turned out with a friend, as I thought I was one of the odd balls that gave my entire a companion, and then felt in very good company. We lost our foundation mare this year at 26, so can appreciate the gap it has left for all concerned.
I saw the great man himself as a veteran at Malvern, and he was a real Horse, one anyone would have been proud to ride. I loved his colour, (our section B gelding is his colour,) he truly was an outstanding ambassador for his generation. |

Pat,
Sadly his pall Squirrel died 2 years ago and Crystal missed him dreadfully for a long time. They were, as you say, lovely together and the very greatest of friends.
Best wishes

Nadia, Frances and I would just like to say a huge thank you for the messages on Arabianlines, the cards and the phone calls we have received since we posted the news about Crystal's death.
It doesn't seem to matter how long we choose to be involved with horses, or how many we are associated with, the loss of a fantastic character like Crystal makes a huge impact.
The situation has been somewhat eased by the kindness you have shown. Thank you.
Patww: Squirrel died a few years ago and Crystal just seemed to accept his passing. He was never one to create a fuss about anything (well almost anything!) but we were touched by his acceptance that Squirrel had gone. They were together over twenty years.
Pip: we know that you know the situation. Thanks.

Have only just caught up with this dreadful news, as pip says, try to think back on the good times! I know its hard, but when i lost my girl (not famous...just special to me) the thought of her foolish antics kept me going! Love to you all. Tina. Ps. What a lovely lot you all are, had tears in my eyes reading all the messages! It's nice to know there's good people out there. X

Paul please pass on our condolences to Nadia and Frances, this horse touched so many lives, in so many ways. I know that you'll all miss him so much, but he has left a wonderful legacy and we are lucky enough to have another grandchild due in march. The image that will live on with me, was seeing crystal and frances flying round the ring, in full flight, at Haydock. Long may his memory live on, it certainly will with us. Take good care Fiona,Pat and Debbie |

The sudden and unexpected loss of a loved and exceptional horse is always very hard. The one consolation is that this sort of surprising passing was not preceeded any lengthy illness which can be even harder to take. Still, consolation doesn't fill an empty stable. So sorry to hear of your loss, not only on such a personal level ~ but a loss to the Arab world.
It's always a privilege to share your life with a horse but to have shared it with SUCH a horse as Crystal Magician must have been a rare and treasured thing indeed.
So sorry
