I have just had an email to say that on November 5th 2003 Pat Parelli was presented to Her Majesty The Queen plus other guests including,US Ambassador to the UK.The Head of Calvary,The head of The Kings Troops'The Head of the Metropolitan Police Mounted Division,The Queens Equerry,The Head of Ceremonial Horses,Lord Vesty, The Queens race horse trainer among others at The Royal Mews Buckingham Palace. I know she must be very intersted in these methods as she also invited Monty Roberts on a previos occasion. Also The French Equestrain Federation (FFE) Frances equivalent of the BHS. In an effort to make horse riding safer and reduce accidents, have made it a requirment that all 5,000 FFE instructors are Parelli trained.People who wish to take riding lessons with a FFE instructor are also required to learn the Parelli Level 1 ground skills before taking to the saddle. As they are part of the EEC I wonder if this will eventually become nessecary for the BHS members etc. I think this will be fantastic if it does become a requirment. I think everyone should learn groung skills before being taught to ride.Too many people take to the saddle without any knoweledge of ground skills when first learning. Well heres some food for thought!!!!!!!!

Go Debbie Go. I got the same email. That’s kind of one in the eye for the traditionalists out there. How marvellous that such experienced people would even consider following the way of natural horsemanship. How open minded of them.
Got my course this weekend so I am beginning to get a little excited I suppose. I am however having a few problems with disengaging the hindquarters on a left hand circle. Any ideas? She just wants to walk towards me. I can yo-yo her back but it looks a bit yuck.

Hi Gill, It's not supposed to be one in the eye!!! I didn't expect to get any repllies as it was just info not a question. I don't want to get involved in a 'them and us' as there are many ways to skin a cat As I have said before I have alot of respect for all different kinds of training methods. It is obvious that I personally prefer Natural Horsemanship, but that doesn't mean I think everyone else is wrong in their oppions or methods.I just wanted others to see that this American cowboy has a lot to offer and is certainly not a joke (Although us Brits do love to hate the Americans!! )There are people who think that PNH is a bit of a joke...thats fine,it's no good trying to convince them otherwise. When you can achieve your own results it will speak for itself If you would like help with any of the games feel free to email me and I will give you my phone number and will help you if i can And remember whatever method you prefer always be open minded or you will get stuck in a rut!
Kizzy, Have fun!
Cheers Debbie |

Hi Debbie, you are quite right, as I have previously said in past posts we all must remain open minded. I just find when I mention parelli to friends sometimes you get of a funny look, along with a few giggles. Gets a bit frustrating. But I really don’t mind what they think. What works for one person doesn’t necessarily mean it would work for another. If we were all the same life would be very boring. Good luck to anybody that chooses an alternative method like parelli or M.R. I am unable to play most of the games with my two yr old stallion so I do have to do things a different way with him.
