I am looking at getting a working hunter saddle for my arab, (did want a dressage saddle but have been advised that if i want to show her under saddle one day then i would need a show saddle or a WH saddle) i would idealy like a WH with quite a deep seat as i will be using this saddle for every day riding. Can anyone sujest a good make??? Thanks in advance.

Hi pascoe, My Arabian Saddle Company Showring Saddle is wonderful! Has a lovely deep seat, very comfortable i use it as my everyday saddle and for showing, long distance etc. I fits my horse perfectly and looks great! The only thing is they can be a bit pricey. |

I use an Albion Selecta. It has different panels that fit on the front of the outer flat that you can take on and off for dressage, jumping and working hunter. They're not cheap but you can get them second hand. They're very comfortable and you can keep the dressage panels for 'best' for showing or dressage competition. Frogpool Manor shows them on their website if you want to look. I guess there must be an Albion site too somewhere! |

i use the ideal range, both the ramsey show saddle and the wh are great. the arabs love then to. get your saddler to bring a few different models as not all sytle suit every horse or rider. |

Lisa, They grey is my 12 year old 100% Crabbett Gelding 'Farhan' (Ahmoun x Kharmel) He is my best mate i would be lost without him. I do showing, dressage and endurance on him. He is so brave and noble and takes me everywhere! I am lucky to have him. Thank you! |

I have 2 custom-built Farringdon WH saddles for my boys - they were custom built as I needed a pony seat with adult flaps, but they weren't overly expensive, and are the nicest saddles I've ever had. Only problem is the wait as they are a very popular saddle!

I agree that both the ideal showing and working hunter saddles are good, although the showing saddle is very flat and not much there if you are planning on it being versatile! I have a 'silhouette' working hunter saddle (fairly 'unknown' brand but they usually do very popular dressage saddles)which I have used for showing which is great and very comfortable but doesn't fit my boy anymore so have moved on to Ideal show saddle now. |

im wondering the same i have a limited budget on saddles and want to do a bit of everything with my arab unfortunatly she does like a good buck when were out on a hack so i was oridinaly thinkin a working hunter might not be suitable for her and although the albion selecta is expensive it does appear a good option though i am intrigued to know how the panel changing effects the wear to the saddle or and the panels?

I find my Farringdon WH saddles very comfy for hacking and every bit as good as a GP when it comes to versatility, also I find the seat deep enough to sit into on a fizzy horse :)

My Albion Selecta panels are changed regularly. The saddle's at least 10 years old and the Velcro that keeps them snug is still perfect. It's so versatile my sister has just bought one for showing for her Irish/TB so she can use the forward flaps for jumping and dressage for showing. It's very comfortable. I also have a Ryder saddle for my Andalusian which is extrememly comfortable and smart. Not a well known make (a Midlands saddler) but you could ride in it all day and it's very smart for showing, straight cut to show off the shoulder very well. |
