I would like to enter a local in hand show at the end of the month...
BUT azie is extremely hairy from the winter and we have only ever done one show so I dont have the know how...
He hasnt really started losing his coat yet and he is an extremely hairy arab, face, legs, everywhere!!!
So what do i do....clip him on a longer blade or do i just use elbow grease and grooming blocks? |

I wouldn't clip now too late in the year, many will be in the same situation. |

Elbow grease 
I was always taught clipping after january ruins their summer coats

id go for the elbow grease. you would almost definately clip into the summer coat. i would definately rug and groom lots and lots and lots for the best results.  |

Which blade will you use on your clippers if you are clipping a couple of weeks before the show? |

I'd clip too, probably 2 weeks before the show?
I am clipping my bay filly tomorrow, her first show is also 17th April, but for my stallion, who is grey, he will be done the weekend before. Very lazy.... |

ME too - planning first show for 17th April - will clip the white grey that has scars 3\4 weeks before (or his scars are too obvious) and the darker grey - that looks fabulous just clipped about 7-10 days before.

If he isn't already rugged, rug him up. Also as you said, plenty of grooming. |

I'd go for elbow grease and grooming blocks - you've got til the end of the month. Clipping now will include his summer coat, even if it doesn't look like it. |
