Posted - 19 Apr 2010 : 10:16:20 PM Sue's OH sent a photo of the wonderful painting that she and Garnet won - I think Judy Kent Pyrah captured the little mare perfectly and I had quite forgotten how lovely it is. Now Garnet has gone, I know this will be an even more precious part of the furniture in the Cole household. Beautiful (I'm sure they won't mind me sharing it with you)

Posted - 20 Apr 2010 : 9:12:52 PM This was such an amazing day when Garnet won her portrait at the North Wales Regional Group show in 2001. The silly thing was that I didn't even realise I had won it! There had been a big article in Arabian Link magazine about Judi Kent Pyrah's work and the fact that she was very kindly donating a portrait, but because I didn't think I would have a hope in hell of winning it my brain filed it under Not Worth Remembering, so when Mrs. Vlacq said she couldn't wait to see the picture I said 'What picture?' DUH! Someone said afterwards that it was probably just as well because if I had been thinking about it I would have been more nervous and blown it. The portrait is, and always has been, very precious to me - it starts with a fluffy little Garnet winning her first rosette at a local dressage the day after her 5th birthday, progressing to the Cherif and the day we won our portrait. Happy memories - I was so lucky to have all those years and so much pleasure with Garnet. As you will see from these pics, we kept Garnet busy that day - as well as the classes she did with me we took a friend, Rachel, who did Young Handler and Young Rider with her, and only a timetable clash kept us out of the Costume Class!
