Sue's OH sent a photo of the wonderful painting that she and Garnet won - I think Judy Kent Pyrah captured the little mare perfectly and I had quite forgotten how lovely it is. Now Garnet has gone, I know this will be an even more precious part of the furniture in the Cole household. Beautiful (I'm sure they won't mind me sharing it with you)

This was such an amazing day when Garnet won her portrait at the North Wales Regional Group show in 2001. The silly thing was that I didn't even realise I had won it! There had been a big article in Arabian Link magazine about Judi Kent Pyrah's work and the fact that she was very kindly donating a portrait, but because I didn't think I would have a hope in hell of winning it my brain filed it under Not Worth Remembering, so when Mrs. Vlacq said she couldn't wait to see the picture I said 'What picture?' DUH! Someone said afterwards that it was probably just as well because if I had been thinking about it I would have been more nervous and blown it. The portrait is, and always has been, very precious to me - it starts with a fluffy little Garnet winning her first rosette at a local dressage the day after her 5th birthday, progressing to the Cherif and the day we won our portrait. Happy memories - I was so lucky to have all those years and so much pleasure with Garnet. As you will see from these pics, we kept Garnet busy that day - as well as the classes she did with me we took a friend, Rachel, who did Young Handler and Young Rider with her, and only a timetable clash kept us out of the Costume Class!
