So..... who's going?
Sazzlepants and I are doing the 32km CR (yes I am getting nervous!) so if anyone has any tips I'd much appreciate it!

Hi Julia,
Agonia had no problems I was careful where she stepped but there were a number of sections where the flint was just unavoidable (must admit I was cringing at points!) - so I'm very, very pleased all round!
Best of all, she thoroughly enjoyed herself. I think if she could she would have been grinning the whole way around, just like me!
Have a fab time at Devils Dyke - wish I was going!

Lovely photos all of you. Glad you had a great ride. Sorry about Marigold, Gemma. Hopefully you can get her better over the winter ready for next season. Looking forward to Devil's Dyke assuming I dont offend the endurance gods..

I think the advantage of up grading to Open then Advanced is the fact you are not restricted to the novice upper speed limit.Once Advanced you can do ER's and that is fun.
Fit horses on a good course do move quicker than 12kph and the fitter they are the more easierly they will move at speed.
I took my Open mare to do the 80k yesterday(to up grade to Advanced)and finished on a speed of 13.2kph and that was a hilly course and she was on her own in the second half without her mate.
Bramshill I do not think they are using the big river crossing this year. Still crossing the rover but not deep.

Well Done Lin & Team, your horses seem to be taking to this endurance lark well, watch out the rest of you.
Some lovely pic on the Rad site, Malcolm and Almostall is No. 68 and Mel & Kiz is in the last few pic'sfor Sunday.All very nice photos and stunning views.
Well Done for your lot too David.
Will have to book some cake baking this week then folks if its Wolvo on Sunday...see you there.

Benefits to upgrading? You can attempt the longer distances. I believe novices can only do up to 50km. Upgrading to Open will allow you to do 65km and 80km CRs. If you do upgrade, you can always enter a novice class (with novice speed and HR parameters) if you'd prefer. |

Notid with Gr2 / G3 / G1 and Saffy with 3 * G1 from their 3 rides can I believe upgrade.
Is there a benefit to upgrading

ps have just entered for Bramshill - not sure what Notid will think of a river crossing, and both could be at Stratford the day before, but it would only be a jolly for them as they have already proved themselves |

hi girls looks like you had a lot of fun - i sadly decided not too take ramak - the BAC weekend left him a bit more tired than i hoped to be honest - and although he looked fine overall
my feeling was he wasnt quite right and need a week of rest before going out to play again - 
happy to report he is back to normal now bless him ! never mind maybe I will make devils dyke next month.... |

Oooo, you all have lovely pictures. Mine were not that great - the first lot was of me having one stirrup longer than the other  (changed that two minutes later as I realised as soon as we were up on the Downs trotting) - and the second lot was of Tuki spooking at the photographer. The camera was making a lot of noise!  So nice ones of him leg yielding and me trying to correct him and him looking like a lama while I'm laughing...
Typical as I wanted some from our first ride together

Just had to post quickly to say what a fabulous time we had yesterday I eventually decided to do the 20km NCR as I was just too worried that Agonia might not have been fit enough for 32km as we just don't have any hills where we are in Surrey. Needless to say, at the end of the ride Goni was still full of energy and raring to go but I had a happy horse so can't complain!
Glad to hear you had a good ride too Tabita - Tuki looks lovely in those photos!
Really sorry Gemma to hear you about you and Marigold. Hope you're able to get to the bottom of thing's quickly.

Gosh it was a long day, with all four ponies travelling 3+ hours to the venue, but we had a lovely day.
Mel and Kizhi went in the 82kmCR, got a Grade 1 and were awarded 1st place under the Performance Formula award. Kiz, bless her, started with a heart-rate of 36, mid-way vetting after 50km she was 50 and after 82km she was 42, so now upgraded to Advanced in her first season. Almost All went in the 32kmNcr with Malcolm and came home with a Grade 1 so up-graded to Open after 3 rides. Debrett having his first outing and over 32kmNcr played up terribly with the vettings but managed a completion, so well pleased. I believe Gazal who also went in the 32kmNcr got a Grade 3. All in all a very good day, but most importantly all the ponies came home safe and well.
See you guys Sunday racing at Wolverhampton.

Oh no Gemma, how sad. I hope you get to the bottom of what it is, she looked fine when I saw you in the half way vetgate yesterday. Knitting, no way, far too dangerous with those pointy sticks
We had a lovely little ride. Tuki was all perplexed at what was happening, he was convinced that he was going to a show when he saw the horses being trotted up so was all excited at the farrier check and then floated up and down the field for the vet who was amused and wondered where the audience was
Luckily we were paired up with a little unflappable icelandic chap who provided much needed confidence in the right places - especially past the photographer. I so wanted some really nice pics from our first ride, instead I have some of us doing lovely half passing with me laughing at the silliness of my horse:

The first half of the ride Tuki was like normal, like riding glue, but then about half way through he suddenly seemed to perk up and pick up the pace. Once we got off the Downs and onto the newly harvested fields he started to love the canters, he then found his powertrot button and just sailed home. Took off the saddle and his HR was 43 straight away, he was obviously much fitter then I realised!!!
All in all a lovely day for us, we just need to do some more to get Tuki used to his new career - I suspect the rest will come. At least I had brake problems at one end of a field towards the end, that to me is a lovely problem to suddenly have |

Well, we're back - earlier than expected as we were unfortunately spun at the 80km vet gate. Lame on the RF which was the same leg we were spun on at Euston Park a month ago. She trotted up sound this morning but unlevel on a circle. So will be calling vet out asap to investigate.
Gah - horses.
Time to take up knitting. |

Team BXPS have set the standard on saturday for sundays contingent of ARO registered racehorsers; Notid and Anganate Safinat did the novice CR and both achieved Grade 1

We're number 116 (riding on the Sat in the little ncr class), come and say hello everyone to my new boy Tuki who will think he's going to a show and I've no idea how he's going to react when he realises it's all very different. We're hopefully riding with a little haflinger mare and owner who's not done endurance before, should be a funny couple |

Anganate Safinat and Notid are due to to 40km novice CR on saturday as their third outing this year.
According to the website Bramshill doesn't close till mon 14th, because we are tempted with that as well

Cinny - have you spoken to the ride entry secretary for Bramshill? They may take a late entry. It's a FABULOUS ride. If you can't get to Firle, it'll make a good substitute. |

Well, touching wood furiously, it looks like we'll be there. May change classes but we'll be there nonetheless.
Easy to spot: Number 1!!!! We're arriving Friday evening and are there for the duration. |

Thanks Pauline, I'd absolutely love to do the training ride in Tilford but its the age old problem of sadly having no transport. Ah well, I really will start saving soon!
