I feel I need to highlight just how, fabulous results CAN be achieved with kindness and true Horsemanship...As many people know Kuda has been through some tough times in his past and because of this he has huge issues when it comes to showing indoors. What happened yesterday at Towerlands was nothing short of a miracle. Kudi has been with Erik and Josje at Bluebell Training centre in Holland since april and the bond between Erik and Kuda is plain for everyone to see..
It took alot for me to send him away for producing but when Erik walked in his stable at Aachen, Kuda chose Erik...I had never seem him react in such a positive way towards a stranger,I just knew we had to do it and what an experience it has been.

I have missed my boy soooo much and it is heart wrenching everytime I have to say goodbye but I know Kuda's heart is with Erik at the moment and thats where he should be...The enjoyment of watching each step he has taken has been immense, each show taking one step closer...His confidence growing more and more and all done through kindness and understanding...
The ultimate reward was seeing the two of them yesterday at UKIAHS, not only achieving Bronze in the championship and a fabulous score of 92.1, but much much more...KUDA HAD A BALL...
Watching Kuda and Erik playing together will live with me forever, I close my eyes and its all I see, no words can truly express just how happy I feel..
There were doubters that kuda would ever perform indoors but I always had faith in him and Now he has found his soul mate in Erik....
ALL THIS ACHIEVED WITH KINDNESS, LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING....

and now i'm in tears again just writing this, god this breed really does get inside your heart...

The topic has been edited (replies edited and some removed) to stay on topic, at the request of the topic owner. In fact, doesn't seem really fair to take the topic into a totally different direction, one that has nothing to do with the intended topic purpose. Please understand that and post only on Kuda's performance at Towerlands and the way it was shown.

Thank you.

Kuda was a different horse with Erik, he actually looked like he was enjoying himself for the first time, Erik is not the abusive handler here, that title lay a bit closer to home......

Hoping to get my mare shown next year. I think I may try to get my son showing rather than trust to someone I am not sure of. I couldn't bear for her to be upset by anybody just for the sake of a show.
I do know I can totally trust Amanda - but she will no doubt have plenty to show - and I am not too sure of anyone else.

i remember watching you both last year at the nationals under saddle and the bond you share is so completly obvious, and he looked as though he was enjoying it as much as you !

those photos are soo lovly, and speak for themselves ! xx

I must have been reading a different topic!

Sorry Debs but this woman has NOT APOLOGISED for any of her comments.
She was clearing trying to do nothing else other than start a witch hunt for Erik & Fiona.

Did you watch the video then post nasty comments about the owner and handler? No you didn't. This woman was not interested in the horse at all, she was more interested in having a 'pop' at Erik and Fiona.

Post edited to have it on topic

Think she had best intentions for the horse...I dont know horse, owner, poster... but thats how I read it. I saw what she saw in the start of video, but afer reading other people's comments, understood it was sooooo positive. But, can understand the confusion
Think we are all capable of over reacting to things we feel strongly about, very evident on AL...
Not justifying, but she has back tracked....which is good. We are all here for the good of the horse
angel2002 Posted - 05 Sep 2010 : 09:10:57 AM
She hasn't apologised yet, I didn't see the word 'apologise' in her post, just excuses trying to justify why she thinks she had every right to say vile and nasty things

I have responded to her accordingly so maybe now she will make a public apology to all concerned for her behaviour...

As I said on there, why should Fiona and Pat Horwell have to re-live the horrific details and post photos as proof of what happened to Kuda just to stop her posting nasty comments? Nobody should have to do that...
Anne C Posted - 04 Sep 2010 : 10:35:21 PM

Seems the person on the other forum has apologised, she wasn't aware of Kuda's story and was just worried for him.

JulieH Posted - 04 Sep 2010 : 3:14:34 PM
Beautiful pictures. Kuda looked so good this year, so different from when I last saw him there. Erik has done a wonderful job with him. It was a pleasure to watch. And as others have said, ignore the nastyness on the other forum. They weren't there and don't know Kuda or his history, you can't judge a horse on one small video. Kuda can just go from strength to strength now and enjoy his life as he deserves.

Would loved to have used other words that I have in my vocabulary to say what I really think of the idiot on the other forum but Rui would have deleted it

I know what I saw and I also know Kuda's history, Erik is nothing short of a miracle worker end of story!!

Says it all, wonderful photos, I was privileged to witness that moment. Not a dry eye amongst us.
I think some people are just very jealous.

Dear Fiona
I'd like to share a couple of pictures with you all that may touch other people in the way Kuda and you (and Erik) touched me at Towerlands this year. ;)

Also posting them on the other forum. ;)
Varaina Posted - 03 Sep 2010 : 9:46:59 PM
Thanks Mandy and you have such a way with words , Aremeriel its lovely to hear how much Kuda touched you this time at towerlandsand the impression he made...I really appreciate you both making the effort to support us in how wonderful Kuda looked with Erik....I don't understand why people have to try to sabotage good things that happen...Any way I am not paying any attention to it because I know how many hearts Kuda and Erik touched, true horse people who understand the enormous achievement realised by these two..I am still in shock about the amount of wonderful messages, phone calls and emails I have received it really is amazing the out pouring of love we have all received and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart....
Aremeriel Posted - 03 Sep 2010 : 8:15:00 PM
I saw Kuda last year, I don't really remember how he behaved, my first time at Towerlands, all the impressions and all.

But I did see Kuda this year, I saw Erik and I saw your reaction in the championship, Fiona. And what I saw was NOT abuse.
Do not listen to jackarabians, cause he/she obviously wants us all to stop a horse from dead gallop with a whisper and loosening the reins.
What I saw from Erik in the video I wouldn't even call shanking, but gentle tugging to get the horse down.
I don't know you, and I don't know Erik. Last year I didn't have battery for the stallions classes, so no pictures of Kuda, but I do remember that he didn't make a huge impression on me back then.
At Towerlands this year I found myself focusing on Kuda more than on any other horse in his class/championship. And that was not because I knew any background history or anything, it was because I liked what I saw!
angel2002 Posted - 03 Sep 2010 : 8:05:10 PM

Some people make me sick!!! If people have nothing nice to say then they should say nothing at all!!!!!

Kuda was ill-treated in France, and that is putting it mildly, just look at the photo's!! If it wasn't for all the love, care and attention he has received since he came back he wouldn't be the well mannered and kind natured boy he is today!

I saw that horse do something I haven't seen for a long, long time, he really was enjoying himself in that arena, it was plain for everyone to see that he loved being with Erik and at NO TIME did he show any signs of being scared of his handler, unlike another horse I saw in the collecting ring before the class!!! Erik has worked miracles for Kuda to want to perform like that for him so well done again Erik!

Ignore what these people say Fiona, they know nothing and they really are not worth it, personally I wouldn't 'P' on them if they were on fire!!!

Kuda when he came back from lease in France, if it wasnt for Sam and Pats dedication he wouldnt be here today...As you can see the cut on his pastern is horrendous....they still make me cry when i look at them...

Lovely pictures Fi
Varaina Posted - 03 Sep 2010 : 10:42:18 AM
Hi Anne, the negative posts are from two people who werent there, dont know the horse and were commenting from a U tube video of when kuda first went in the ring when he was still a bit tense and nervous, it dosent show the magic of how Kuda transformed.....It is very sad when people try to spoil thing but hey we all saw what happened and nothing but nothing is going to take away the fantastic achievement of Erik and my black beauty and the wonderful journey they are on together, I for one am sooooo very very proud of both of them..
Anne C Posted - 03 Sep 2010 : 10:32:42 AM

I've just been reading the thread on the other forum, I was sad to see quite a few negative posts. Why do people have to try to take away the pleasure in something that is obviously so momentous in this horses life?
