Posted - 09 Dec 2009 : 6:11:04 PM There is no mention of the breeding or colour of Flicka 11. She is down as being "breeding unknown". Phoned the NPS, and this is what they have. Flicka 11 ches roan mare born 1946 13h.h by Telegraph Roc
Flicka 111 1944 by Faille Rover (new forest) Flicka 1V brown mare 1951. Sire unknown Dam Munstead Bun Flicka V1 1954 by Gay Presto (GSB)
They looked through progeny of Bubbly, but could not find anything out of a mare called Flicka. Foxall is not registered with them.
I shall be speaking to my friend tonight, and shall ask about Flicka.
Sue, it took me years to find PBAR Vol V1 which was discovered in an old bookshop, and has Office copy written inside! I do have spare copies of Vol 9;11;17 if you are interested. |

Posted - 09 Dec 2009 : 11:58:38 AM Hi Lynda, I only have PBAR Vol.X 1969 - 1970 ish.( let me know if you want to do a swop for VI... will look in X and see if there is anything of Ficka's offsprings by Bubbly.( Bubbly has a load of off springs recorded on allbreeds but nothing yet from Flicka).
I'm not sure what % arab Bubbly has/had,this would effect where the Bubbly foal was recorded and as it was dun would leave it ouit of the BPS. Saddlebred might get to the bottom of this with her old palo mags.
I have found another( or the same one) FLICKA II registered in the PBAR. Vol. VII, anyone help by checking to see how this mare is bred please and her owner and year of birth & Colour, must have some arab in there and the colour will confirm the one.
Keep at it.. Need a year of Birth for FLICKA....too
Thanks Folks.. Sue |

Posted - 09 Dec 2009 : 10:54:14 AM Sue,
My memory has just recalled a conversation that I had with a very dear friend, who knew the Downes family who had Foxall at stud.
The story is that there was a dun mare who kept having Palomino foals to Foxall. That being the case she was sent to Bubbly and produced a dun foal. I wonder if that foal would be traceable? |

In Vol 6 of the PBAR, there are two offspring of Flicka. Little Goldflake (1957) by Foxall AASB and Little Gold Shine (1958) also by Foxall. Both were Palomino and fillies. |

( Just a PS, I was with the transporter the day Grassendale Golden Rocket was dropped off at Shepley, he came from a sale, it might have been 1966???. - will never forget).
Leaving you the link to 'Little Gold Mine' If you have any more info, like his colour or a pic, leave it for me and I'll load it up. He may be recorded in the PBAR as Little Gold Mine was by an Anglo Arab stallion and I have put a number on the mare FLICKA Number 85, as there are so many Flicka's. Is she in anyway related to Ochre Golden Tan ????? can you tell me. Will be a few days before they show up on allbreeds. Thanks again Sue.

Posted - 05 Dec 2009 : 9:06:59 PM Hi Sue
Cant help with the breeding I am afraid but I have come across a picture of Flicka from a 1957 palomino magazine. She was a dun. Not best quality I am afraid.
The article with it says:
"Mr. OT Downs tells me that his dun mare FLICKA has this year foaled a filly by FOXALL (bay)." There is also a picture in the same magazine of a full brother to this filly who was standing at stud in 1957. His name was Little Gold Mine" |
