A MANS MAN WINNING the 8.00 WOLVERHAMPTON 21st MAY 2005
REPORT:
A good evenings racing at WOLVERHAMPTON where David Turner
continued his fine start to the season by recording another
success on THE VERTUOUS CRUSADER who escaped a penalty for
his EXETER win and put this advantage to good use by scoring
comfortably in the NAD EL SHEBA CLASSIFIED STAKES. Sam Holdsworth
added to his seasons score by taking the AL RAS HANDICAP
STAKES
on A MANS MAN, trained by Bill Smith, but had to survive a
stewards enquiry for interference to the favourite, LAMASAT,
ridden by Phil Collington, in the home straight, before his
victory was confirmed.
OPERATIC took the JEBEL ALI RACING
CLUB HANDICAP STAKES QUALIFIER over 1m 4f. Operatic, trained by Mrs A L Colledge, may not
have won since 2002, but had maintained a consistent level
of form and this was a thoroughly deserved success.
Other races saw a good win for OAKVALLEY RIALTO, owned and
trained by Mr W Hill and ridden by Phil Collington, who was
recording his second success of the evening after winning the
opening race on ASHHAB for trainer Mrs G M Duffield. A well
bred chestnut colt by Way To Go (USA) - Mangana, ASHHAB, won
with some ease and should follow up.
MEHSHIV took the AL WASL BANDED STAKES by returning to the
form he showed in 2003 and the final race of the night the
WILD WADI BANDED STAKES at 9.00 was won by RAIHAN, owned and
trained by the Connally's and yet another winner for Sam Holdsworth
who took his score for the season to three. Both Phil Collington
and Sam Holdsworth rode a double on the night, but this still
leaves David Turner at the head of the Jockey's Championship
table with four winners, closely followed by Sam Holdsworth
with 3 wins.
