REPORT:
The first full days racing of the 2005 Arabian Season
saw a well attended meeting, good racing and a winning treble
for
jockey Mr David Turner who opened with FRENCH LIEUTENANT winning
the Dragnet Ltd Handicap Stakes for trainer Miss C J Legg,
quickly followed by a cheeky, facile win on THE VERTUOUS
CRUSADER
in the Clarendon Stud Handicap Stakes, over one mile, trained
by Tony Brunton and owned by Mr J Cook. David Turner's third
success of the day came on CS KHAMSIN in the Ajay Construction
Maiden Stakes, another winner for the Brunton family. Bred
by Mr M D Brunton, CS KHAMSIN is a four year old colt by Khairouan
(FR) (Winner of 7 races from 1m to 1m 4f) out of Samara Bint
Samurai (Winner of four races) and, despite running green on
his debut, he was a most impressive winner. This augurs well
for his future. Other Winners on the day were SABEZ for the
David Paton team and the BXPS Racing Partnership, ZA'EEMAH,
ridden by Sam Holdsworth for H H SHeik Mohammed Bin R Al Makti
and trained by Bill Smith who followed up with FRIPON
AL MAURY,
ridden by Simon Walker, in the fifth race on the card.
