The
Clarendon Stud Maiden Stakes (Div I) 1 Mile:
1.
Laskem Mr P Collington
2.
Vaccara Mr S A Walker
3. Muqdam Mr D I Turner
Distances:
8, 3 7 ran Time: 01:54:70
Winner Owned by H H Sheikh Hamdan Bin
R Al Maktoum. Trained by Mrs G Duffield. Bred by Mme Laure Giethlan
Caniergues & M. Jacques Tournie.
The impeccably
bred Laskem (Dormane X Kemia (Shawani)) delighted connections
when winning the maiden after two years off the track, he slammed
the second Vaccara by eight lengths in the style of a smart horse.
Vaccara (Vadeer X Baccara De Carrere( Djourman)) traveled well
and quickened nicely but was no match for the winner; this was
a promising racecourse debut and he can build on this effort.
Muqdam (NF Bolt X WF Wiktoria (Wiking) showed early speed but
was outpaced in the straight.
The
Bedmax Ltd Handicap Stakes (Anglo & Part Breds) 1 Mile 4 Furlongs:
1. Curupanna Mr S A Walker
2. Castle Lee Lad Miss E-J Jones
Distance:
7 2 ran Time: 03:05:50
Winner owned and trained by Mrs A M
Batchelor. Bred by Mr J C A Batchelor.
Curupanna
(Opera Ghost X Easter Panic) made short work of Castle Lee Lad
(Kenilworth Castle X Miss Annabel Lee) in the Anglo race, she
quickened up nicely in the straight and won going away to give
Alison Batchelor yet another Anglo winner (100% strike rate this
season).
The
Jebel Ali Racing Club (Series Qualifer) Handicap Stakes (0-45)
1 Mile 4 Furlongs:
1. Gift Of The Nile Mr D T Weeks
2. SA Anothersam Miss W Parkin
3. Nashwaan Mr S Harrison
Distances:
2,5 6 ran Time: 03:16:50
Winner owned and trained by Mr N G Bell. Bred by Mr &
Mrs R J Hall.
Second season
runner Gift of the Nile (Nile Bequest X Quedasha (Ibn Estasha))
took the one mile four furlong handicap in game fashion to give
trainer Nick Bell his first Arab winner, she looks progressive
and is reasonably treated. SA Anothersam (Sambist X Rezah’s
Nadine (Prince Rezah)) showed her first signs of form for a while,
she ran on for third and looks capable off her current mark. Whilst
Nashwaan (Eaglescliffe X Nasaan (Saan)) ran well considering he
missed last season, he will come on for the run.
The
Hamilton & Partners Handicap Stakes
(0-75) 7 Furlongs:
1. Midnite Dream Mr D I
Turner
2. SA Bibi Mr G C Farr
3. Abra Mr B J Boulton
Distances:
sh hd, 1 ¼ 8 ran Time: 01:39:90
Winner owned and bred by Mr E J Legg. Trained by Miss
C J Legg.
The seven
furlong handicap proved a hot affair, but eventually the seasoned
campaigner Midnite Dream (Dantist X Autumn Dream (Autumn Royal))
just scraped home at 5/2 a short head from the fast finishing
SA Bibi (Abitibi X Florich (Manich)), they were chased home by
Abra (Dormane X Djoula (Djouras Tu)) who showed up well on her
first run for over a year.
The
Stud Farm Fencing Handicap Stakes (0-90) 1 Mile 4 Furlongs:
1. Khaliber Mr S A Walker
2. CS Clarion Mr P Colllington
3. Pavots Dreamboy Mr D I Turner
Distances:
sh hd, 15 4 ran Time: 03:04:10
Winner owned by H H Sheikh Ahmed Bin R Al Maktoum. Trained
by Mr W Smith. Bred by H H Sheikh Mohammed Bin R Al Maktoum.
The fifth
race of the day provided another short head finish when Khaliber
(Bengali D’Albret X Khaddouj (Haroun) followed up his win
at Wolverhampton by just getting up by a short head from the unlucky
CS Clarion (Chndaka X Cikada (Klarnet) - whom he beat seven lengths
at Dunstall Park. The pair pulled clear of Pavots Dreamboy (Pavot
Al Maury X Autumn Dream (Autumn Royal)) who was struggling over
this trip that stretches his stamina. It was another frustrating
finish for CS Clarion’s connections the Farr’s as
they lost the earlier photo with SA Bibi.
The
Wessex Farm & Equi Products Maiden Stakes (Div II) 1 Mile:
1. Mutumarres Mr S A Walker
2. Maiyzah Mr P Deymonaz
3. Ayam Zaman Mr A S T Holdsworth
Distances:
2 ½, neck 7 ran Time: 01:56:80
Winner owned by H H Sheikh Mohammed Bin R Al Maktoum.
Trained by Mr W Smith. Bred by H H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid
Saeed Al Maktoum.
The second
division of the maiden went to Bill Smith and Sheikh Mohammed’s
4/5 favourite Mutamarres (Passem Lotois X Seyvilla Wikeyna (Wiking)),
who was a moderate 12th on his debut at Exeter. He looked much
more the finished article here and had to work hard to repel the
challenges of Maiyzah and Ayam Zaman. The second Maiyzah (Tayar
X Nailah (Naftalin)) stepped up on the form of her debut and should
be winning soon, whilst Ayam Zaman (WF Wincent X Saltiki (Tiki
Tessar)) ran promisingly and will be interesting if stepped up
in trip to ten furlongs.
