Shahngali (Bengali
D’Albret X Affecshahn (Derbist)) could
scarcely have been more impressive, producing a confident and
bold display on his seasonal debut. Always prominent and in the
leading group, he cut out a break neck pace with subsequent third
Baraka Sharlap and showed an impressive turn
of foot to get up in the shadow of the post to repel the late
thrust of Kaspa.
The second Kaspa (Kasadi X Pharitz Maneon (Galeon))
was held up mid field and came with a wet sail in the final furlong
and
a half to catch Shahngali, he briefly headed the winner in the
final half furlong only to lose the initiative in the dieing
strides going down by a neck. Last time these two met was at
this course over five furlongs last season and it was Kaspa who
got up by a neck, he has shown improved form considering he is
rated 18 lb inferior to the winner and both are clearly on the
upgrade. Baraka Sharlap (ZT Shahkar X Al Tamah)) was a decent
third four lengths behind, he cut out a decent pace but couldn’t
live with the first two inside the final furlong. Cal
Karamah (Karmah X Mora Amapola) was a decent fourth half-a-length away.
