I have been offered a lovely stallion, he is unhanded and has been running wild, has very good part Arab breeding. He has a large scar on hind leg, about a foot long and inch wide ruining down over the inside of his hock towards the front of his hoof.

He got the scar jumping out and is used to roaming!!

He has been turned out with mares and geldings, he is unhanded but friendly, well you can touch his neck head. I am experienced with stallions and have had them here at home before with no problem.

Do I take the risk and have him or not, he is not free and I would have to pay for him.

I would be thinking of braking him to ride, run with the mares.

Honest thoughts please.

Bearing in mind that you do not know how this stallion will react when moved from his present home to a new environment then if I were in your placed I would consider taking him on a month's trial or maybe longer. I know someone who bought a mare and for the first few weeks she was fine but then she turned and started attacking one of the other mares causing her sufficient injury to lame her for the season. The previous owner was very considerate and took the mare back and repaid the purchase price.

I was thinking about that having him for a month or so just to see if it was going to work, just don't want to seem like I am time wasting.

I am sure any responsible owner would be happier to ensure the horse was in a good home where he settled in than somewhere that did not work and had to be sold on.

No I haven't yet really need to find him a palomino loving home but he is very quite and sweet with interesting blood lines!!!

How are your horses! I have another palomino filly, 4 high whites and blaze this year.
