Dear Mrs Harvey

Thank you for your email.

The welfare of the horse is paramount in eventing at all stages in preparation through to competition and this will always be the case.

BE is aware of press reports relating to the prosecution of Rachelle Peel and her subsequent successful appeal.

Mr and Mrs Peel have volunteered in the past but have confirmed to BE that they will not do so again.

BE has decided that no further action is appropriate at this stage.

Best wishes

That letter sounds feeble to me. Still at least we have it in black & white that they will not fence judge again.
Appeal Successful LMAO. A f**k up by that darn society. The word GUILTY was used in court. Should have been stamped on her forehead for all to see.

Edgevale quoted from her post. After all the list of horses, dogs, cats, sheep etc she said "As Stephen says - this used to be a working farm but since Evie and I moved in now everything has a name".

What were the names?
1) Dead
2) Also Dead
3) Another dead
4) Oops, dead
5) Oh dear, dead
6) Will die soon
7) Oh, yet another dead
8) Soon be dead
etc.

"300 commercial sheep (most of which I can recognise as individuals)
40 pedigree Charollais sheep (all of whom I can recognise as individuals)
8 pedigree Zwartble sheep (all of whom have names that they know)"
Does one dead, rotting sheep carcass not like any other dead, rotting sheep carcass? How could she know who they were when they were lying rotting in fields?

I didn't see this at the time but how can anyone recognise 300 sheep individually especially as she was away a lot of the time.

A lifetime ban from BE would have been more satisfactory than 'confirming they will not be volunteering'.

I so agree, BE reply feeble and I did reply that whatever due process failed the dogs, horses and sheep we can't bring them back or heal the pain to all directly involved. Whenever the Peels try to enter the horse world the truth will be told.

Still the list grows.
I wonder if when they see the names of these horses they killed an ounce of sadness wafts over them? I seriously doubt it!
When the list is completed, and that is going to be quite a while, let us all take the time and hold a scheduled few minutes silence for them.
We can remember the lost ones and show them someone cared.
It really saddens me that they can be on facebook with smiles on their faces.... Behind those smiles, there is a tremendous amount of pain and torture they were part of.... Remorse... None shown...

These people will feel no sadness whatso ever over the dead horses.... They just don't feel anything. This list is heartbreaking to read everyday. May this family rot in hell and never know a happy day ever again. I hope every time they sit down to eat a meal they remember how they let all their animals suffer and die or suffer and starve.....VILE VILE people

The mother hardly starves herself... Did you see the size of her at court? FAT.. Obviously she had been eating well. The husband must have been eating well too as he has miraculously recovered from his illness..... wasn't he dying at the last count.... and evil has produced an offspring... Guess I will not be asked to be Godfather!

Paul, when Evie rang me to "draw a line under it and start again" (what, start starving and neglecting horses again?) she hadn't a clue who Tara was, seemed as if she had never heard of her. You would think that if she was going to ring me she would at least have known what happened to Tara but she didn't even recognise the name (or her registered name), beggars belief.

I would also like to thank Pat Royston for the lovely stones she has decorated in memory of the horses and put at the entrance to her farm (the farm the peels were renting); thank you so much Pat. Made me cry when she sent me a photo of the beautifully decorated stone with Tara's name on.

This is not the first case of selective starvation and neglect Remember Millfield arabians owned by the deceased Paola Gucci.

Yes, remember it well. I went to see the horses and then went to the auction. Not all the horses were sold that should have been; I am told they were squirrelled away to other studs and then returned to Penny Evans as she was by then when it had all disappeared off the radar.

I visited the stud when it was well!! Big fields full of yearlings and mares and foals all looking good . A year later when the RSPCA went in there were those that were well fed and those that were in a poor to very bad way RSPCA shot between 5 and 10 the first day on welfare grounds! It was only then that money was released to feed the animals to get them in good enough nick for the auction. A friend bought a yearling colt reg for the pricely sum of £100. Did anyone end up being held to account on this case???

I don't understand why people would ant to hide them and then return them to someone that starved them....what is wrong with people? Or am I missing something?
