According to a small book just found on London statues the one of Lord Roberts is, in their opinion, the best equestrian statue in London he is riding his Arab Volonel who carried him on the march From Kabul and is bursting with energy according to the book.

Brilliant! Also, Napoleon rode the Arab Marengo and Winston Churchill rode an Arab in the Boer War. I don't think some of the 'halter' horses being bred today would stand up to active service!
