Saw the news today with flooding and peoples houses filled with very dirty water. Even worse less able people being rescued, how frightened they must have been. Pictures of people carrying their dogs to safety made me think how fortunate I am to live higher up and to worry about folks with cats, dogs and other pets and horses if fields are flooded. Outdoor small pets will have drowned and my cats would be terrified and doubt I could have helped them. My heart goes out to anybody involved.

Dreadful flooding. I hope all humans and pets/livestock are safe, however I also feel sorry for little wild animals like mice etc...no one is helping them.

Very, very brave. The power of that water could have taken the tractor let alone the guy who went out on foot to get a rope on one of the horses. |

Selfless bravery, such faith in tractor and horses did well too. Can't imagine the worry of all watching for safe return of rescuers and horses. |

A friend has lost her stables in Cumbria , luckily she has found someone to take her horses. My poor vets flooded last sat, it leaves such a mess but they were back up and running by mon morning bless them. We had a lot of wind damage and our power lines are still on the floor but are now connected along with the phone lines. Sadly now its the snow we are having to deal up north, its come down so fast today, covers up all the mud though. I feel so sorry for people who have flooded twice this week, how dreadful to clear up only to have to do it again a few days later. Roll on spring/summer. |

We are thankfully high up however I have never seen as much water running off the moor or down the roads. The land and drains are full, it's lashed it down all day. My heart goes out to all affected this weather is a nightmare. |

We live in the south, and the wether is lovely, bit windy but dry most of the time, in fact it's so far a very good winter. Grass is still growing and even though I bring the horses in each night, because it's so warm and dry I have been tempted to leave them out.
What a difference a few hundred miles make!
Hope not to many smaller animals have drowned. |

It stopped raining and Ari and me got out to find Harvey Smiths sand gallops more like Morecambe beach after a storm and standing water on the moor. We dealt with a natural water feature, paddled through 6inch deep water some of the way and did a controlled slide down into our wood. He really is great at all that bless him, it's only the odd looking leaf he doesn't like. I trust and love him so much |

Oh Ari, you just reminded me of my relationship with my old Arab. They will follow you to the end...even if they do jump at the odd leaf! |

Ha Ha Ari they are so funny , we built a huge snowman in the paddock yesterday, when i tried to lead them out this morning the 3 of them when horrified at this thing that had appeared in their paddock, snorting, leaping, dancing and spinning at poor Mrs Snowman , daft things that they are :) |

Confronted with your snow lady Ari would have looked stood, may have done a bit of an Arab move, no pressure on lead rope and away we go. My boy can be totally beside himself with fear or extreme weather so very upset yet remains aware of my space and safety. A cob would have run me into the mud. They are daft (love that character) however I am sure they care for people in a way no others do. |
