Re Bramble.
Sweet Bramble is unfortunately no longer with us. She is fondly remembered as a proper lady - hated mud and rain never got dirty, if she caught rabbits she would wash them and then let them go. She was quiet at home and never pulled on the lead. Her only failing was she would steal and hide food - pats of butter down the back of the sofa, cereal in the bed. She was a Christmas chuck out picked up in Kent in Boxing Day we always said she must have nicked the turkey.
Life without a long dog is not the same and we now have her alter ego Weasel. Rabbit eater, pulls like mad and if she comes home wearing badger or fox poo coat again I may well be looking for a good home with someone with no sense of smell! One thing you can say she ain't no lady!
She is so similar to Bramble we think the cross must be the same her father is a working Whippet and her mother a Deerhound - don't ask!

Bramble sounds like she was a treasure...and Weasel, well nobody 's perfect! Was she another rescue? I love my long dog Boogie, and she lies just as elegantly (no shame!) |

Bramble brings back happy memories as does the phrase "long dog", I had a lovely rescue lurcher many years ago, thought she would love the excercise out riding but no. She was a 10 minute burst round then sleep by the fire for a week kind of girl. Very easy and lovely companion happy days. |

So sorry Bramble is no longer with you. She would have suited me fine as I have sinusitis so poor sense of smell!!! Also the food, (cereal in the bed) would have been magic as I am a bad diabetic so no cereal allowed but lovingly given by a beloved dog (so long as it wasn't chewed first)might have been OK once in a while.
Look forward to Weasel arriving first class mail!
PS I am getting some ex-battery hens at the end of the month so she is not allowed to stuff any down the back of the sofa. |

Ah sorry you lost Bramble she sounds a sweetie, I only recently heard the term long dog having always thought I had a lurcher but I also have a long dog who sounds more like Weasel than Bramble although as she gets older doesn't seem to roll in poo so much, maybe she's finally realised it results in a much hated bath! |
