Minnet the nooligan occasionally neighs in her sleep. She did it one time when I was in the stable which is how I know she is actually asleep but I haven't heard it for ages and had forgotten about it. Then she did it a couple of nights ago (our stables are very close to our bedroom). It's a funny little neigh, she doesn't sound distressed. Presumably she's having a nice dream!
I don't recall ever hearing a horse neighing in it's sleep before. Is Minnet unusual?

Hard to tell Diana, as I don't often catch ours asleep, in fact having spent several nights camping next to them they seem to spend all night eating noisily!!! However my dog used to yip in his sleep so I suppose there is no reason why a horse shouldn't talk in its sleep too |

Dogs and cats vocalise in sleep so I don't see why horses shouldn't.One of my cats used to have nightmares and meow in a distressed way,she stopped if I called her even though she didn't wake up. Minnet was probably dreaming of apples and carrots? |

I once came across a foal asleep and snoring quite loudly in the gateway to its field, it was very cute, and totally oblivious to me and my dog! You'll have to film her and share with us here. |

My 2 Arabian siblings like to come in and have a good lie down and sleep in their stables. They are both confirmed snorers and quite often do small winnies and grunts in their sleep! |

One of our boys is very vocal whilst asleep, he whinnies and chortles away and even twitches his feet as though gallopping, so funny to watch. |

My old gelding used to whicker in his sleep. I once caught my old mare having what seemed like a nightmare in the field one day. I thought she was having a seizure. She was making a funny noise kind of like a whicker and moving her legs like she was cantering, then suddenly woke up in a panic and galloped about til she found her friend. She was a very stressy horse. |

It's good to know Minnet's not a complete freak.
As to what she's dreaming about: she's trying to be a bit pushy over the last few days so she's probably dreaming of World Domination! |
