Can I ask, how do I get Crabbet % to show on Allbreedpedigree. I would love to know what % my boy GB Arizona Bey is as his grandfather is Blacklord Caesaro too.
Apologies that I haven't a clue how to post a link to details on Allbreeds

Ari, here is the link to your boy

http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/gb+arizona+bey

If you choose Blacklord Caesaro (click on name in your boy's pedigree), and look at his name at the top of his pedigree you will see a tiny circle with an 'i' in it, this means that someone has posted information about him, click on the symbol and you will find that someone has calculated his crabbet percentage at over 60%. This is a good guide, but you must always remember that any one can post info on there, and the pedigrees sometimes have mistakes in them, so don't take it as gospel. The tiny picture symbol means that someone has posted a photo of him, click on it to see it. To post a link to a horse on allbreed you bring up its pedigree and then copy what is in the address bar at the top (e.g. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/gb+arizona+bey) and paste it in your post. I can have a look at your lad's pedigree tomorrow if you want.

Thanks for your help Linda, if you have the time to look at his pedigree I would appreciate it very much.

I'm working on it Ari, but am offshore and don't have my spreadsheets with me, so am doing it from scratch, so it's taking a bit longer

Thank you so much, I have learnt such a lot from Allbreeds but never knew about the info and picture buttons. It's fascinating.

Hi Ari

Sorry it took so long, but work rather got in the way . Anyway, the crabbet percentage I came up with for your boy is 46.40 %, with his Sire Spocolate R contributing 37.54% and his dam Largin Sapphire offering 55.26%.

This is obviously subject to the usual caveats that I have used allbreeds to calculate this,(and I have used the figure on Allbreeds for Blacklord Cesaro's Crabbet percentage without checking it all the way back to the early 1900's which I have done for his 3 other grandparents), so there is always the possibility of an error somewhere (plus possible finger trouble on my part). His breeding is definitely mainly in the USA

Thank you so much Linda. That's a lot higher than I was thinking, I chose him for conformation and temperament so just goes to show.

as
Same here Ari, I was treating Bryn for sarcoids as a yearling and thought wow I like this horse, somehow that day I misunderstood his owner and thought that he was by an Egyptian sire but having decided to buy him found him to be very high % Crabbet 100% OE and he ceratinly has proven himself worthy of his blood.
BTW the World Equestrian Games 160km Endurance race this year was run in extremely challenging conditions , had a very low completion rate and many nations had their whole team eliminated. It was won, very convincingly indeed by a mare called Yamamah, she had been renamed and her original name was Kurrajong Concorde http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/kurrajong+concorde a Crabbet mare proving her extreme worth in the hardest endurance test in the world.

Strangely we have a sarcoid link in that Ari had what I know now to be a flat sarcoid on his face came to my notice at about 3/4 yr old, at age 6 a nodule developed just under cheek piece of his bridle. That's when my vet got Liverpool Uni advice and treated it with Efudex; hair grown back and he's now 11 and no sign of a sarcoid problem anywhere.

Hi Ari,
The susceptibility to sarcoids has a genetic component. Thinking about it almost all of my hoses have had sarcoids and all have cleared completely with teatment.
Bryn's all responded to treatment completely, just as well really as I paid for him befote I'd finnished the treatment and they were quite bad...!
