Any information about Sultans Salute and Cherokee is useful. A friend bought a filly by Cherokee (said to have good palomino bloodlines) out of a *Quantock* mare by the stallion called Sultans Salute (arab or PBA?)

Sultan's Salute was also mentioned in a recent thread on Quantock ponies but when I looked I couldn't find a horse of that name registered with the AHS. Maybe he was part-bred or not registered. Is Cherokee a palomino himself? I can't find a Cherokee registered with the AHS.

A friend told me that the correct name is Sahara Sultan AHSB 14, as he bought two 3yr old fillies in 1997 from a lady in Somerset and was told they were out of Quantock pony mares by Salafari AHSB out of mares by Kaliph Rusan AHSB.

OK, found that one. Sahara Sultan by Sahara Duke x Nakishma by Halma. Chestnut foaled 1979 and bred by Mrs. Titcumb.

Salafari (Fari II x Dorelia by Saladin II, grey, 1971) and Kaliph Rusan (Count Ambrino x Pride of Rusan by Rimini, bay, 1966) came up in the other thread too.

Just seen this thread I now know that Sultans Salute was bred by a man that lives in the village near me, he was part Arab but never registered, looking at this thread it looks like Sultans Salute was by Sahara Sultan, out of a Quantock Mare by salfari. The Quantocks mares dam was by kaliph Rusan

Cherokee! are you sure that is right! Could it be Cheeko!

We are in the process of registering the Quantock stallion (palomino) that is on the Quantock Hills at the moment. Best to PM if you want more info. Let me know the year the filly was born and we will be able to find out who the stallion is.

Sahara Sultan was owned for most of his life by Garethe El Tawab, she is the curator of Swansea museum if the connection is via Sahara Sultan I'm sure she will help
