Anyone used one was going to try one for showing, I have a ported mouth showing pelham but the shanks are so long and the bit just looks massive, the myler pelham just looks so so smaller and neater and as it has a ported mouth piece it wont be so different from what I use everyday which is a Cambridge snaffle.

Anyone got any experiences of them?

Not used a Myler Pelham but I ride one of my mares in a Myler comfort snaffle with medium port with a small roller and 'hooks' I love the way it works independently each side, has not nutcracker action and is comfortable and clear for the horse :-) the hooks means it does have a little curb/poll action too. I think they are good bits for Arabs.

Thanks Kerry I read on the Myler website that you should go a bit bigger with a myler rather than too small, did you get a bigger bit or stick with the normall size your horse was wearing? My horse has a 5.5 and I have seen that the sizes go up by quarter of an inch rather than half inch and as the 5.5 is a snug fit I thought the bigger one would be better.

Hi Pinkvboots,
yep, used a Myler Pelham when I did a few seasons of ridden showing with my mare I lost un-expectedly, earlier this year. I was going to put her in a double but I spoke to her previous producer, Crispin & he told me to try the myler Pelham which is what he had always shown her in. She went very happily in it. Can't be certain what size it is, I would need to go & measure it, but I AM certain I only bought her usual size, which was 5ins, about right for a full up 15.2 I would have thought?

Many years experience owning & riding my own horses. Fell in love with Arabians at 11 years old when given a ride on "Trevallion", a 3/4 bred who was a livery where I worked as a stablehand. I have never forgotten that ride, Thank You Yvonne- should you ever read this!I now have 2 beautiful purebreds.

I bought mine of 'that online auction site' and got the smallest I could find- size 5" and its not a snug fit! Don't know how different the Pelham would be to snaffle, I think the mouthpiece would be the same. It does sit a bit lower than a 'traditional' snaffle bit. You can always try one from bitbank? They do look complicated bits to us but to the horse they seem to make sense!

Hi Kim sounds like I need to go with his regular size then, really sorry to hear about your mare:) Arabi was bred at Round Oak with Crispin its a lovely place, was your mare there before you had her then.
