After my beloved Saladin aged only just 6 yrs, was suddenly put to sleep 6 weeks ago I am left feeling at such a loss as I miss him so much. He was the kindest best Arab I ever owned. He kept me safe and happy in his short but wonderfull life. He never said no, and did all I asked. No cure, no medication for his disease and vet decision to PTS. I now have started looking for another lovely Pure Bred Arabian, but am struggling finding the right one who is not miles way! If anyone has or knows of a friendly gentle mare or gelding, between 14.3 min and 15.2 max, with kind temperament and excellent conformation and feet for high level endurance and showing aged 4 to 6 yrs. In work and hacking out is a bonus but will consider genuine unbroken and even a 3 yr old if mature to back now. Must be very well handled and good in all ways farrier/catch etc. No more than approx 2 hours from Chichester, West Sussex please let me know. Thanks

Thank you every one (and my friends on here, who know will know who I mean) for your kind words and nice knowing so many people are thinking of me and keeping a look out for a nice arabian for me to love and cherish forever! I've already had a lovely member on here offer me two of her very special arabs and am awaiting pics, a bit further than I wanted to travel but she and they sound worth it!I can offer a lifelong home and him or her will have all my attention and care as they will be my only horse! |

Sorry to hear about your loss. My boy is also by Om el Shaheen and also has that wonderful temperament, that he seems to pass on, though that also comes from his dams side(a lot of Camargue in there). As you got on so well with him would it be worth you speaking to Silverdales to see if they know of any of his offspring that might be available. Rebecca and Wendy were very helpful when I was looking for my boy. Good luck |

Some new ones gone on the sales pages. Like the look of Pele prob cause he is crabbety. Didn't your boy sire some offspring or as mentioned maybe a half brother or sister. When I lost Shida I loved the fact that Ishara is related even though they are completely different in every way. |

Tae- you remembered Saladin's breeding - yes the temperament was superb. He had alot of Carmargue in his breeding and he was beautifull to look at with a lovely dished face. Have contacted Silverdale but didn't have anything suitable at time. I actually don't want anything related to Saladin purely because I'd think of him too much and compare, so looking for something completly different, but of course temperament must still be most importantly wonderfull. Saladin has some babies but are only yearlings! Have a few emails from breeders who've contacted me and am awaiting photo's. One in particular sounds nice and I'm feeling a bit more positive, but it will be nice to have a few to compare when looking as they are all very different...so keep looking everyone! Oh Izzynasm I will look at that facebook page as not heard of that one. Thanks again. |

I so empathize with you not wanting to compare to a beautiful relationship. I was lucky enough to have my lady to a grand age so we planned ahead and got a baby, but we chose a gelding with very different breeding so she could always be my princess Kate. She helped show him his job and he has grown into my prince and I have learned so much more. |

Hi Arabiangem. I remembered Saladins breeding as it's so close to my boy, Naheen Gallium if you look on allbreeds. Its only the tail female that's different. Same father and same dam's sire. It may still be worth looking at related horses as the temperament and high level of social inteligence does seem to be a very dominant family trait, and once you've got used to that it can be a hard thing to do without. Li is still a stallion, but is more like an overgrown puppy, always trying to talk to me and happy working with mares and geldings, barking dogs,he's anyones for a good scratch. It's a buyers market still so hopefully it won't be too hard to find your new friend. |

Tae - Its nice to know his lines are going on! Your boy sounds lovely too. Yes I must say that Saladin's intelligance was so much more than any of my arabs ever. Even Gudrun said he was the most intelligant. He was vocal too and called to me such a lovely greeting. What I also liked about Saladin was how trusing he was and he was very brave. He was not spooky. If he was unsure he'd look to me. Amazing horse. Yes I'll keep an open mind with his relations! Yes hoping to find one soon, as I may get too used to not having to get up early in dark cold morning before work! |
