He's only been ridden in it a couple of times but so far I really like it. Its a Stubben golden wings snaffle with lozenge. I was finding his NS starter bit was moving to the side when turning (even though it is the right size) but I didnt want a bit that had fixed cheeks. I could only find one loose ring with full cheeks, but it had a french link and I like a lozenge. So I spotted this stubben bit in a shop I dont normally go to. At £66 I thought its a bit steep if it doesnt work out. So I managed to find a 2nd hand one on ebay. Really like it. It has 'wings' that stop any pinching, no need for rubber rings. The wings dont stop the loose ring action and the wings help with steering a baby. The mouthpiece is quite thin too so great for his big fleshy mouth. He seemed much happier with it too. He had been trying to put his tongue over the NS bit but he settled into work much quicker with this new one. Just thought Id share incase anyone sees them and thinks about trying it.
I like the way this looks -- thanks for the post! I was about to buy a straight bar loose ring for Esme, but I wonder if I should try this instead...sounds like you really like it!
Yeah i do..so far! A word of warning though..its not dressage legal due to the wings being classed as guards. Bit stupid I think but it will do for now.
