hi all

ive been feeding my mare Turmeric for a little over two months now after
reading and hearing good things about it being anti inflamitory and anti cancer plus a multitude of other things i started at 15ml scoop once a day and over the period of a month built up to 100ml a day for another month and incredible as it sounds her sarcoid which was the size of a conker has disappeared completely you cant even feel where it was also she had a cluster of melanomas under her tail bone and a mass of them around her bottom and she now only has two left under her tailbone and although she still has the cluster around her bottom there are nowhere near as many the other thing i noticed is she had the pink pigment eyes if you get what i mean and one of her eyes has lost the pink pigmentation and is dark again the other still has some but it looks like thats getting darker again too her energy levels are up and she seems to have a new lease of life and is moving a lot more freely,i wish id thought of taking photos of her sarcoid but will be taking some pics of her eyes and the remaining melanomas so i can log any more changes ...i did find that she is getting a bit over exuberant now so have lowered her dose gradually back to the maintenance level which is recommended 15 to 30 ml scoop a day and she is much better for it...just wondered if anyone else had tried using it and what it was like for them?????

Hi,

I feed tumeric!

But I only feed a teaspoon a day to them -- How do you get so much into the horse? It has a very strong taste/odour! Isn't 100ml like almost a 1/3 of a cup?

Am excited by your findings! I have a mare prone to sarcoids and an older horse with arthritis so maybe if I up the dosage.........??

my mare is ten years old and is clicky on her near hind and was prone to a bit of stiffness on it but this has dramatically improved ,i started her off on a 15 ml scoop but i read that you can up the amount over a period of time till you get the results your hoping for but generally people say they go up to half a cup full as a maximum amount as i say i got up to 100ml scoop once a day after about a month of gradually upping it and stayed at that amount for a month i have reduced it now as she was too lively for me although it was a pleasure to see her so animated after months of looking slow and tired i will continue to give it to her once a day at the rate of 15ml scoop and see how things go if i feel after time she could do with more will up it accordingly i buy it 1kilo bags and if you search online you can find it very cheap my friend has her arabs on it and hers are shining coats like you wouldnt believe my mare is grey but you can still see a sheen across her coat i think each horse is different amounts depending on its needs etc so its very much trial and error to see what amount works for your horse .... i hope it works for those that consider trying it xx have pm'd those that asked xx

Thank you!

Have you noticed that 1kg is less than 1/2 the price of 400 grams on the link? Do you know if this is a limited offer or have you ordered from there regularly at that price? Sorry for the inquisition, just wondering whether I need to order in bulk.... lol

I an a bit fascinated by this subject having read recently about people declining chemo in favour of selenium, vitamin C and suchlike. Have also read that cancer may be related to diet.

Think I'll put turmeric on the list and give it too the horses.

do be careful though - some of these naturally potent substances, brazil nuts I think is one, can be dangerous if you haven't anything malignant.

Basbob, you are so right about cancer related to diet, I wont start ranting and raving but will try and remember name of a couple of books that make very interesting but scarey reading. The governments and food industry are poisioning us with food production methods...see here I go ! An acid free diet is supposed to be the best anti cancer diet.

Debs - am with you completely on this - someone posted a link on FB a while ago and it got me reading....
Apparently cancer is unheard of in central africa where they live off the land, lots of grains, little dairy and little meat. Fascinating reading - but the "anti-cancer" i.e. "chemo" foods can give cancer if you eat too much .

It's not proven, but many diseases are related to the way we live today.

Fasinating reading.

I do beleive that herbs and spices in our life our beneficial, you only have to look at India to see that, they live of the land like Basbob says and mainly their medicine is made up of herbs and spices.

I give one of mine Indian herbs for his sinusitus and it works, and tumeric is readily known for having antiseptic benefits as do alot of spices in a curry!!

Borleybird, YES is the answer, at least from what I've read. And the various internet forums tell me that men should take turmeric for other reasons, too. I just ordered some extra strength for my OH! And I take turmeric myself.

Martha, do you take turmeric tablets or do you sue the powder..? If tablets, where do you get yours?

I've started feeding it to the horses at 15ml each a day and they love it.. Ozzy does have an orange nose though which is not a good look and won't do well in showing season

I've also started giving it to the dogs at 1/2 a teaspoon a day and they love it too.

I did read somewhere on the Internet that feeding too much can cause ulcers in some people so I imagine this would be the same for horses and dogs. Like most things, little and often is probably better

Ive read about tumeric being fed to horses as an anti-inflammatory but not tried it. Not sure my horse would eat it tbh.

I agree about diet and cancer..but bear in mind the likes of central africa also do not have car/air pollution, pesticides, cleaning disinfectants, shampoos/conditioners/moisturisers etc all of which contain chemicals. Toxins are one the factors to the disease. Their lifestyle as much as its hard, is completely natural.
I strongly believe the amount of chemicals we put into our body through everyday lifestyle is a big contributor to cancer and that is why it is on the rise. Even in the 60's chemicals werent used as heavily as they are now because of all the products we use and mass production.
