Just wanted to share with you all, the above filly is now mine, she had a few posts on here which didnt do her any justice.
I bought her in July and she is a dear little girl, she loads beautifully loves a fuss and quite frankly is a beauty.
I didnt want her to go through life with a big question mark hanging over her. I will try and post some pics not my best forte perhaps someone would be kind enough to assist me.

Well done Erica. I have been worried about this filly having seen her advertised several times and not being able to buy her myself. Thanks for letting us all know that she is okay.

Really looking forward to seeing photos of her - I own her full sister Havenbeech Little Minx. She is a sweetheart too.

She had a bit of a bad time between leaving Jodi and coming to me. Here are before and after photos:

When she arrived with me February 2012:

Looking better August 2012:

Hopefully she will be broken in over the winter, so her muscle tone should improve.

Kate

Lovely filly...Pleased she has found a caring home with you and I hope you don`t mind me saying, she now looks to be in need of a farrier as her hooves are quite overgrown.

She still has a way to go but a noticeable improvement, since you have owned her (how old is she)?
Look forward to seeing more pics as she continues to gain condition and muscle tone

She has her feet trimmed every 6 weeks Babs, but with all the extra food she had been having it made them grow more quickly than my other horses. This photo was taken 2 days before a farrier visit in August. She is 4 years old by the way. She was put in foal as a 2 year old and not given the best of care. When she arrived with me she had her teeth done, full blood tests, a worm count, 3 meals a day and a nice warm rug!

I remember Little Minx! I was VERY taken with her and was sorely tempted to see her with a view to buy. I decided against it in the end as I didn't feel capable of bringing on a baby. So pleased to see her again.

What lovely girls they both are.. I do like Buckskin/Dun its such a smart colour. They both seem to have been lucky enough to find lovely homes, it must be a big relief Havenbeech.

Everyone in my life brings me happiness, some by arriving others by leaving.

Cant believe someone put her in foal at 2 no wonder she was a state, she looks so much like her sister, both very pretty and I love there colouring I am sure there breeder is happy to see them in lovely homes.

If you were to breed with that colour what colour are they most likely to produce, like it you were to put them with another dun do you get another dun?

I think if you cross 2 buckskins together there is a high percentage chance you will get a cremello which is a double dilute. I presume the same would apply to 2 pallys bred together.

But then I could be completely wrong!!

What lovely fillies & dam is very nice too! Buckskin is a dilute colour & if 2 are bred together as I understand it you could get an array of colours depending on whether the parents also carry the Bay/Black Agouti gene, you could get Buckskin (highest %), Perlino, Bay, palomino, smoky black, chestnut, cremello, smoky cream or even black!

Ok, here goes ;-)

Havenbeech Rode To Victory is homozygous black and homozygous agouti
Dance Of Angels is homozygous red, homozygous cream but not tested for agouti

this means the foals from this pairing will have
one copy of the red gene
one copy of the black gene
one copy of the cream gene
& at least one copy of agouti

so Double Minx is capable of producing chestnut, bay, palomino, buckskin, cremello, perlino etc - the only colour we dont know about is her ability to produce black and its dilutes as if Angel carries and also passed on agouti then Minx will be unable to produce black herself.

If you want to specifically breed buckskin from her then your biggest chance would be from a bay who is homozygous for black & agouti like rwd, then even if Minx throws her red gene the black will overide this and the agouti will drag it down to the legs and points etc and VOILA - there you have your buckskin ;-)

hee hee

here's some pics of this years filly for you kate b ;-) we have kept her at the minute, i seem to be running out of time to wean them all before i become a complete hippo for the last few months! LOL
