Horses have been let out of their fields in the Hebden Bridge and Ripponden areas near Halifax, West Yorkshire. Four separate incidents over the last few weeks around Hebden Bridge/Blackshaw Head. One horse missing completely and another badly injured in the road.
In Ripponden a man was killed on Tuesday when he crashed his car into two loose horses on Rochdale Road, near Baitings Dam in Ripponden. The police say they can't rule out them not being let out of their field. Both horses died. Police appealing for information if anyone has seen or noticed any attempts to move or let out horses. Horse owners are urged to check their fences.
That is a really scary thing to read. I have my mare in Halifax and the thought that someone is deliberately letting horses out beggers belief! Why? RIP the 2 horses killed on Tuesday and condolences to the family of the car driver.
further to my previous comment, I wouldn't have any problem with seeing the death penalty brought back for certain offences, and this would be one of them. A man and 2 horses dead and 3 families devastated - why?
